I just wanted to say thank you again for hosting our students today after our iFly field trip. They loved
the food and service!! Ashley took great care of us as did your staff. I did however, in my haste to keep
track of time, 17 kids and the bus, forget to leave a tip for our server. She had a long ponytail with
glasses I believe. If there is anyway you can find out who that was, I would like to send her a card with
her well deserved tip. Again, my apologies for my forgetfulness and thank you for making my students
experience that much greater with their Texas Roadhouse lunch!

Thanks!
Stephanie
Yes that was the plan (if you are able to accommodate us). Thanks so much!!
Goo dAfternoon!
Yes mam! We will see you tomorrow. Will you be eating here?
Thanks,

Good Afternoon!
I polled my kiddos and here are is the count for hamburgers/hotdogs:
Hamburgers- 13
Hot Dogs- 5
It looks like we will be done at iFly around 12:30, so is it possible for us to come across the street to pick
up/eat the lunches by 12:45? We would be picked up to head back to the school by 1:30.
Thanks!

Good morning,
We would love to donate lunches for the kids. We can either do hot dog or hamburger, apple, bag of
chips and a bottle of water if that’s ok.
Thanks,
Stephanie Clary
Hello Stephanie!
My name is Dani Byerson, and I am a middle school science teacher at Windsor Hills
Elementary/Middle School located in West Baltimore. I am writing to you as the manager on duty at
your location (Andrew Shumate) was kind enough to provide me your contact information.
On Wednesday, May 30th, 18 of my students and I will be at the iFly location next door to yours
for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) field trip. Under normal circumstances, our
cafeteria manager would prepare bagged lunches for students attending a field trip. However, just this
past Friday, our main refrigeration unit in the cafeteria’s kitchen broke. As you can imagine, this has left
our resources for breakfast/lunch options very strained.
With that being said, I wanted to inquire and ask if your White Marsh location would be
interested in possibly donating a small lunch option to my students while they take their lunch break
from iFly? I recognize this may not be a normal request, but I felt compelled to at least ask. It is my goal
to provide the best opportunities to my students, and that includes giving them a chance to show them
how to take a negative (a broken down cafeteria fridge) and turning it into a positive (lunch at a lovely
restaurant).
Please feel free to email me at this address or give me a call at 917-750-4968 to discuss further if
you’d like. I appreciate both your time and consideration in this matter.
Thank You,
Danielle Byerson

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life
brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts,
events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.

Subject: iFly Update
As an update, I am going to redistribute iFly waivers to the 18 students who paid tomorrow. I
emailed the sales rep to schedule a trip for Wednesday, May 30th from 10-1. Once she
confirms the time and date, I will let you know.
We would need transportation for 18 students and 1 chaperone and would have to arrive to
White Marsh by 10am and then leave around 1:15/1:20pm as the program concludes at 1pm.
We do not accept purchase orders, but do accept checks. If you want to bring the check the
day of, we would just need photo proof of the check. It can be made out to:
Please let me know if there is anything I need to do or if there are any more questions that I
can pass on to the iFly sales rep.
Thanks for this! I’m coordinating with Arrington now to get the payment processing.

Hello Danielle,
We are so excited you are moving forward with the STEM Event. I have attached an Event
Agreement/Contract if you would like to review, and let me know if any changes need to be
made. I set the date for 2/21, but can also change it to 2/22, as they are both available right
now.
In order to hold the spot, we do require a 25% Deposit, and then the remaining balance would
be due (7) Days prior; (2/14/18). If you are paying by check, we only require photo proof of the
check, in which can be brought upon arrival. Until then, here is the waiver info:

Please let me know if you will be supplying paper waivers, so we can enter the students name
into the system ahead of time to expedite your check-in process.
If you have any questions, I would be more then happy to answer them over the phone/email.

Sounds great!
I let the 8th graders know and they are definitely excited.
I am hoping to get the waivers out to them starting next week so we can be ready to go for a
date later this month, so if you are able to forward that to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Speaking of dates, are 02/21 or 02/22 available? We would want to have the session be
between 10am and 1pm as well.
Thanks!

Danielle,
Another note in addition to the email I just sent with what we cover...
Since they are in 8th grade ( I used to teach 8th grade) we can talk about working together as a
team and how important each persons job is at the tunnel. With getting ready for high school,
we will also talk about careers and fostering personal interest into the workplace. Career
readiness.
Thanks!

Hi Danielle,
Great to hear that it's a go and I can feel the excitement in your email! Yay! 😊
Our interactive STEM presentation for middle school goes over a variety of content that we can
tailor to meet your needs. I am attaching a copy of the pre-field trip power-point so you can get
a feel of what the students will see. The presentation goes over the following components for
STEM:
Science: Forces, how air is characterize as a fluid, terminal velocity, gravity, frontal area
(different than surface area), Newton's Laws.
Technology- We discuss the different technology used to run the wind tunnel and how that
pertains to each individual that flies. We discuss the job of the "driver" and the technology
needed for this person to do their job at controlling the wind speed.
Engineering- We discuss the shape of the building and why it was build the way it was. Are all
iFly's built the same? We discuss the engineering and design process of constructing the wind
tunnel and the materials needed to make it functional. A power-point slide of the "blue prints"
of the closed vertical wind tunnel is shown during the presentation and students are asked to
brainstorm why the fans are housed in the top of the building. We also discuss the flight suites
and how they were created and modified over time.
Mathematics- Student calculate what the maximum horsepower of the fans can produce at the
tunnel. Students use the terminal velocity equation to try and predict what their own terminal
velocity will be. This is completed in the lab component of the STEM event.
I am also attaching the Science Standards that the content is connect to.
We are here to make this a great experience so please let us know how we can personalize this
for your group. We can modify anything content wise or the lab activity the students conduct. I
am also attaching a copy of the middle school and elementary lab. You can let us know which is
a better fit.
Please feel free to keep lines of communication open and let me know what we can do to make
this educationally just as great as flying in the tunnel....well ok, that might be tough. 😊
Thank you,
Katie James

Hi Katie!
I’ve spoken to my principal and we are a go for iFly! All he asked is that you email me a quote
for 35 students. Also, please forward me any waivers that may need to be signed so that I can
begin to get all needed documentation signed. I will reach out with a date and time frame
shortly as well (or if there is a calendar you want to send me I can pick from there). Thanks!
Katie James—Hi! I would love to chat with you about what we are learning/what you all cover
during a session so we can best align the content with what students are learning. Talk to you
soon!
