The legend of candi prambanan

Once upon a time there was two hinduism kingdom in Prambanan, Central Java
named Pengging Kingdom and Keraton Boko. Pengging Kingdom leads by wise king named
Prabu Damar Moyo. He has a handsome man named Bandung Bondowoso. Keraton Boko
leads by evil king named Prabu Boko. Prabu Boko has a beautifful girl named Roro
Jonggrang. He has a giant governor named Patih Gupolo. Prabu Boko want to have control
over Pengging Kingdom, so Prabu Boko and Patih Gupolo collected the power and supplies.
After the preparation’s enough, Prabu Boko and his soldier went to Pengging Kingdom.

Damar Moyo Guard : Who are you? and why do you come here?
Patih Gupolo : We come from Kraton Boko kingdom, we want to take over the royal power
of this Kingdom
Guards Damar Moyo : No, you can’t ! Before you face our king, let's face us first !
Prabu Damar Moyo : What's wrong with us so you want to take over the power of this
kingdom ?
Patih Gupolo : never mind we just attack their king!

Uprising ensued between the two kingdoms. Many casualties on both sides and people
Pengging be suffering. knowing people suffer so he sent his son Bondowoso for revenge
against King Boko.

Prabu Damar Moyo : Oh my son .. vengeance my revenge on the royal Prabu Boko, because
of him our people become poor and hungry
Bandung Bondowoso : ok my dad, I would do it for you.

Then went to the royal palace Bondowoso Boko, when on a trip he met with Vice Regent and
King Boko Gupolo

Patih Gupolo : Who are you? it looks like you're not the people of this kingdom
Bondowoso : Indeed not! I am Raden Bondowoso, Prabu Damar Moyo son of the royal
Pengging. The purpose of my coming here want to avenge my father to the king of Boko.
Prabu Boko : what's this? and who are you?
Bondowoso : I am Bondowoso, I want to avenge my father to you because you have made
my people be suffering

Bandung bondowoso and prambanan king fighting, and in fighting prambanan king had been
dead by bandung bondowoso sword. Knowing prabanan king death chief minister of king

Patih : pardon me princess!
Roro jongrang : what happened Patih, why you look so sad after back from the fight, Where
is my father?
Patih : I’m so sorry princess, Baka king….
Roro jongrang : daddy, what happen with him? Do you bring bad news about him?

Patih : Baka king has passed away in the fight

When roro jongrang cying, bandung bondowoso come forward to her, he thought, who was
the girl in front of him. Bandung bondowoso thought that this girl was baka king mistress.

Bandung : what happen with you sweet heart?

Roro : who are you? How dare are you come to my kingdom without permission
Bandung : hahaha who am I ? You don’t know me, I am a king. I am bandung bondowoso,
hahaha, you look so beautiful, will you marry me and be my wife?

Roro jongrang confused for answering his question

Roro jonggrang : (heart says) bandung bondowoso is supernatural power man, it’s
impossible if I refused him. But I don’t love him. I don’t know him, but he wanna marry me.
Impossible!! He made me lost my father.
Bandung : let’s accept me, I’m not too bad, I am so handsome, why don’t like me? Do you
shy with me? What should I do for you?
Roro jonggrang : make my father alive and than I will accept you
Bandung : what ? its impossible Roro, your father is a bad man. Would you give me
requirement a little easier?
Roro jonggrang : like this, if you really want to marry me, Make me 1000 of temples in a
night, if you success make it you may marry me.
Bandung : hahaha you’re kidding, 1000 temples in a night? What will you do with 1000
temples? How if I make you 10 temples only?
Roro jonggrang : no…!!! I just want to 1000 temples, just do it if you love me
Bandung bondowoso : ok. I’ll proof you if I love you, I’ll make you 1000 temples in a night, I
promise.

Bandung bondowoso asked his jin, who had been subjected by him for help him.
Bandung : jinny, come on to me now... now jinny...
Jinny 1 : what happen Bandung ? why you looks so panic?
Bandung : I need your help jinny, I wanna marry Roro Jonggrang and she give me a
requirements.
Jinny 2 : what ? what can we do for you?
Bandung : make 1000 temples tonight. Just in a night jin. Please...
Jinny 1 & 2 : okay Bandung, we will make the temples now.

So they began to make temples, in another place roro jongrang so confused about it.

Roro jonggrang : how is it, bandung follow what I have commanded

Dayang : of course princess, can do it because bandung is a supernatural power man, certain
he fulfill your requirement make 1000 temples. Now 2 o’clock and he will finish it princess.
Roro jonggrang : so, what should I do ? I wont marry him. He is not handsome , really I don’t

Dayang : so, how princess ? what can I do to help you?
Roro jonggrang : Please make all prambanan people up, asked her for pound rice, burn straw
close to the chicken cage. We make as if morning come. So, the jin will think that morning
will come soon, of course they will escape, don’t forget to spread all kind of flowers.

Dayang call the Gadis in village

Dayang : hey Miss. Follow me..

Gadis 1 : where will we go Dayang? Its midnight. I’m still sleepy .... hooam....

When the jinny make temples

Jinny 2 : but how with our work, one temple we haven’t make it. Where is bandung
bondowoso, we should be tell him about it. He will angry with us.
Jinny 1 : I don’t care, I should go know, let’s go guys..

After that all of jin disappear and Bandung Bondowoso come in.

Bandung bondowoso : roro jongrang I have fulfill your requirement, please marry me
Roro jongrang : really, you have successfull to make it? you’re sure?
Bandung : yah of course my darling.
Roro : I don’t believe it
Bandung : don’t you believe me? Let’s see and account that temples.

Bandung bondowoso : hah, are you serious? You do ot passé in math exam, you’re wrong,

temples are only 999.
Bandung bondowoso : ok, only one temple, and I have made 999 temples, so I think I’ll make
it for you, after we married.

 RORO JONGRANG

One upon a time there lived a woman and her son, named Bandung Bondowoso. They
lived happily and peacely. One morning they talked together. Suddenly Bandung
Bondowoso asked something to her mother.
Bandung Bondowoso : mam, do you not feel lonely if we just stay in this village.
Mother : loneliness!. I’m not felt alone since I stay here, seem I’m
really happy.
Bandung bondowoso : yeah…. Mom may be you want to marriage again because you still
beautiful, and of course many man will fall in love with you.
Mother : what are you talking about son, I enjoy be a widow, so don’t be
Worry please.
Bandung bondowoso : I’m sorry mom, but you should have a partner.

Mother : I no need a partner, that should have a partner is you my son

Bandung bondowoso : don’t think about me mom, I want to ask you something but I’m
afraid will make you angry.
Mother : why you should afraid of me, if you want to ask me a question, okey please
Bandung bondowoso : actually I want to know about my father, who my father is? Is he still

After he walks for long time, he comes to pengging kingdom and to be a pengging’s king.
And he wanted to expand his kingdom, and he want to unite the kingdom. Prambanan
kingdom lead by a giant named Baka king. Knowing his kingdom will taked by bandung
bondowoso. He prepare his soldiers, prepare guns, and enough foods to againts pengging
king
Baka king : hei bandung bondowoso, if you want to take my kingdom, is not
easy, Prambanan Kingdom is big, and I’m not agree if you mess my
people.
Bandung bondowoso : hahahaha…yes prambanan kingdom is a big but frequently I will
take
your kingdom and I be a king.
Baka king : (cuih) it is not easy for you, step on my body first.
Bandung bondowoso : what!! Step on your body? Haha clean the ocean by draining it I can
do it.
Baka king : crazy…! Let’s fight now.
Bandung : with pleasure.

Once upon a time, there was an evil king whose name was Prabu Baka. He liked to sacrifice
humans every day. He had a preference for killing young people. King Baka had a brief and
faith governor named Patih Gupala.

Prabu Baka: I am the king of the kingdom and you are my society. All of you have to obey my
rules. Ha….ha…..haa……. (he stood with arms akimbo)
The ‘Patih’: Glory my lord…..!!! (Followed by the society)

Prabu Baka: My governor….. Come here!!! I wanna eat someone. I’m hungry.

The ‘Patih’: My lord….. All of our society has been eaten. Who want to be the next one?

Prabu Baka: Find it in the other kingdom….!!! Ha…ha…ha…ha….

The ‘Patih’: But…….

Prabu Baka: Don’t complaint! Go away at once!!!!

The ‘Patih’: Ok. I will find in Pengging Kingdom. What do you think about it my lord?

Prabu Baka: It’s amazing idea. Practice all of our soldiers to beat the Pengging kingdom. Do
you understand what I mean??!!!

The ‘Patih’: The pleasure was all mine my lord….

Prabu Baka: Nice…!!! Hurry up!!!!

Moreover in the Pengging kingdom, the king of Pengging Prabu Damar Maya had a
wonderful life with his son named Bandung Bondowoso and his society. All of the people
were very happy lived there. The prince of Pengging had been planned to be a king.
Bandung Bondowoso had done the meditation before he expected to be a king.

Prabu Damar Maya: My son…. Do you realize that our kingdom is the biggest kongdom in
Java. Now, I am too old enough to lead this kingdom. One day, you have to replace my
position to be a king.

Bandung Bondowoso: I haven’t been ready to replace your position dad…..

Prabu Damar Maya: You should be ready. I’m afraid our neighbour will see this weakness to
beat our kingdom.

Bandung Bondowoso: Dad….. don’t be panic. I will protect this kingdom as long as I’m still
breath.

Prabu Damar Maya: That’s right. We have to be ready at all. I will give you all of my magic.
After that you will be ready to lead our kingdom and protect all of our society.

Bandung Bondowoso: Thank you very much my beloved father. (Huge his father)

Pembayun,Bendoro and their princess Roro jonggrang were in her bed room.
Bendoro: My princess. I have just heard issue that our kingdom will attack with Pengging
kingdom.

Roro Jongrang: Are you sure?. Pembayun,is it right if our kingdom will have a war?

Pembayun: Yes my princess, we heard from our king words when he said to Patih Gupala.

Roro jonggrang: So what will my father do..?

Pembayun: The king will prepare the strategies and the society for war.

Roro jongrang: I hope that our kingdom will win.

Bendoro: I hear that Pengging’s son is handsome man, , ,

Roro Jongrang: What did you say? I don’t care about it, I hope my father will be ok. Now,
clean my room!

Roro Jongrang went out from her room with her dayang, Retno and went to garde.

Roro Jongrang: Retno, actually I do really worry with my father when the war come.

Retno: Be calm my princes, The king is very strong, I belive that He can defeat the Pengging
Kingdom.

Roro Jongrang: Yeah, I hope it much.

Retno: I think, we have to talk to The king to make it ok.

Roro Jongrang and Retno went to The King’s room.

Roro Jongrang: Father, You will war to the pengging’s kingdom. Is it right?

Prabu Baka: Absolutely yes!

Roro Jongrang: So, What will you do?

Prabu Baka: Be calm,! All of things have been prepared,,,

A week later . . . .

Prabu Baka: Are you ready to kill them ?

Patih Gupala: Yes, I have prepared some startegies. I believe that we will win in the war.
Prabu Baka: Yes I do too, I hope we will be fine and we will win.

When the war happenned The king of Pengging met the king of Baka and his Patih.

Prabu Baka: Heyyyyy Prabu Damar Maya, are you ready to be sent to the hell ?

Prabu Damar Maya: Are you kidding me ? My son is better than you. I will kill you and take
by force your kingdom.

Prabu Baka: Are you sure ? How strong are your son? My power is higher than your son. I
will make you surrender in front of me.

Prabu Damar Maya: You have to face my son first.

Prabu Baka: Ok, I will send my Patih to kill your son first.

In the bitter fight Bandung Bondowoso kill the Patih and Prabu Baka, After the king of Baka
passed away his daughter was very sad.

Roro Jonggrang: Oh Dad, How pittes you are, why you leave us so soon before I get married.

Retno: Oh my princess please you have to make your heart be strong. It was His fate, don’t
cry, don’t be sad you are not alone. You with me and the others.

When Roro Jonggrang felt very sad, Bandung Bondowoso looked Roro Jonggrang.

Demon: Wooow,, how beautiful she is. ( she says by his self). Bandung looks at her. She is the
most beautiful princess in the world so that you have to get her heart she is your perfect
wife. Come on approach her,,,, approach her make her falling in love with you.

Bandung Bondowoso: yeah I must get her sympaty she is special girl, but what should I do?

Demon: You have to know all about her. Especially her hobbies.

Bandung Bondowoso: How to look for it? I have killed her father.

Demon: Take it easy, I’ll help you I’ll find whenever you need

Bandung Bondowoso: That right it is a good idea. You will search it for me, won’t you?

Demon: That’s all my job my lord.

After getting the information about Loro jongrang, Bandung bondowoso went to the Loro
Jongrang’s Kongdom. He tried to get her love.
Bandung Bondowoso: Excuse me…

Dayang: Yaph….. What’s the matter??

Bandung Bondowoso: May I meet you with the princess of this kingdom?

Dayang: Of course, but who are you? What your bussines with her?

Bandung Bondowoso: I am Bandung Bondowoso. I would like to know more deeply about
princess Rorojonggrang.

Dayang: Ok, wait a moment. I will call her, Have a sit please.

Bandung Bondowoso: OK. Thank you.

Dayang: My princess…. Where are you? There is a man who find you there.

Roro Jongrang: Who is he?

Dayang: I don’t know exactly. He tells me that he is Bandung Bondowoso.

Roro Jongrang: Say to him I will be arrived a few minute again.

Dayang: Okay..

After a few minute Bandung Bondowoso waited for Roro Jongrang. Roro Jongrang arrived
and met him. He told Roro Jongrang about his feeling then he wanted to more closed.

Roro Jongrang: Hi…. Who are you?

Bandung Bondowoso: I am Bandung Bondowoso. I’m the king of Pengging.

Roro Jongrang: Are you sure? So, you are the man who killed my father?

Bandung Bondowoso: That’s not my fault. Your father want to beat my kingdom. I just save
all of my society. I’m really sorry about it.

Roro Jongrang: I hate you!!

Bandung Bondowoso: Please forgive me my princess. Now, I want to make freedom for us.
That’s why I come here.

Roro Jongrang: What do you want?

Bandung Bondowoso: Would you like to marry me? I want to unite our kingdom. (hold
princess’ hands)

Roro Jongrang: I have to think first.

Bandung Bondowoso: Okay. I will wait for you my princess. But, now I have to go. I have
some appointments.

After Bandung Bondowoso went to his kingdom. The princess told to her dayangs what they
had discussed.

Roro Jongrang: Bandung Bondowoso want to marry me…. What should I do? I am really
afraid if I refuse his invitation.

Dayang: If you won’t to marry him. You must refuse politely by giving him a condition that
impossible to be done by him.

Roro Jongrang: What should I do my father……… My God give your miracle for me….

Dayang: I have an Idiea. My princess, give him an imposible condition by asking him to make
a deep well and 1000 temples in one night.

Roro Jongrang: That’s a good idea. Where did you get that idea? How smart you are my
dayang.

Then Roro Jongrang thouhgt about it by herself. In the morning Bandung Bondowoso came
again to ask Roro jonggrang to marry him.

Bandung Bondowoso: You are like sunshine in every morning that always brightening my
heart so that I can look at your beautifull face. Roro may be it is too fast for you. I would like
to marry with you. So, what is your decision?

Roro Jongrang: I have thought it last night. Actually I would like to marry you but I have 2
requirments for you.

Bandung Bondowoso: What are they my lovely princess?

Roro Jongrang: Listen to me carefully. You must build a well and a thusand temples and in
one night for me. Can you do that?

Bandung Bondowoso: Everything you want, I will do it because my hearth had a set on you.

Roro Jongrang: Are sure about that?

Bandung Bondowoso: I’m really sure about it. I will prove my promise.

Roro Jongrang: Don’t make me disappointed with you!

Bandung Bondowoso: Okay. It will be ready for you next morning. Now, I have to go, I want
to start my job. See you next morning my sweet hearth.

Bandung agreed with Roro Jongrang’s requirements. Helped by his spirit and his demons,
Bandung Bondowoso started building the well and the temples in one night. He meditated
to call his demon. After his demon is appear, he told what he wanted to be finished.

Bandung Bondowoso: My demon you have to help me to build a well and one thousand
temples in one night.

Demon: Ok my boss. It is so easy for me, because I have many assistant to do it.

Bandung Bondowoso: Do it now! Because the time is limited. You should finish it in one
night. It should be ready next morning. Hurry up!!!

Demon: Okay my boss.

The demon started to do the job. He told to his assistants to help him.

The demon built the well and the temples, approaching midnight, the demon’s work nearly
done. Roro Jongrang knew Bandung is smarter than her. Suddenly, she got an idea. She woke
up all the people on the palace and ordered them to make the noisy sounds so that the
roosters would think it had already dawn. So, all of the demon went away. Roro Jongrang
and the dayangs went to Bandung Bondowoso to state if Bandung Bondowoso failed to fulfill
her job.

Roro jongrang: Bandung Bondowoso, you fail to fulfill my requirements , so you can not
marry me.

Bandung Bondowoso: But it almost finishes…………I have made a well and 999 temples.

Dayang: But, you had promised me to fulfill my requirements to make 1000 temples, but
because you can not finish this job you cannot marry with my princess.

Finally Bandung Bondowoso knew if Roro Jongrang had lied to him. The demon came back
and told his boss that the day was still midnight. Bandung Bondowoso was very angry with
Roro Jongrang.
Bandung Bondowoso: You are fraudulent! You lie to me! You make me so angry. I will make
you to be the statue to completed this temple.At once the princess turned into a statue.
Knowing this, Bandung Bondowoso regretted this and he went away in to a fair land. Then,
the people called the statue as Prambanan Temple and Roro jongrang statue, Roro Jongrang
statue of Pancoran.
