habiter". With their unstable marriages. weak family ties houses can
rarely be called homes.
Tn contrast to this the Indian civilisation lays great stress on the
sanctity of the homes, Here marriages are more stable, diverces til
lately were unheard of and family ties are extremely slrong.
During the major portion of my life which was spent abroad, [
have found drug addiction cte. are directly linked to broken homes or
uncaring parents. Our Indian families have been able to carve a niche
in the upper hierachy because of the stability of home life. Qur children
have rarely taken to addictions like drugs because they know when
they return home from schools and colleges they have caring parents

To lead a happy and contented life possesion of a house ts of vital
importance. Therefore, a great stress has been laid. on the ownership of
property. An acient prayer says, “Oh God, give me a beautiful home, so
that Iam able to convert it into a great place for worship". House,
family fidelity, worship of God and peace of mined went together, all to
‘be used for the glory and service of Divine, The emphasis, therefore, on
the 4th house ‘Sukhisthan’ became of paramount importance which
relate to houses. property, mother and peace of mind.. Being opposite
to the 10th it makes connection with the strongest house in the
horoscope, the house of ‘karma’, fame and righteousness.
4th House in the Horoscope
In view of what Has been stated above, the delineation of the 4th
house/4th lord assumes added importance. In childhood, mother
home, propety and education portray the type of upbringing and
‘comfortable living. A good 4th house and 4th lord become ‘sinc qua
not for a prosperous childhood.
In adulthood, a happy married life is known from the conditions
