eeABOUT DUNMORE
Since 1970, DUNMORE has provided innovative solutions by coating,
laminating and metallizing high performance films for a wide range of
applications, generating a strong presence in the aerospace and insulation
industries.
ur products have been used in over 100 space programs as insulation film
and backsheet components for satellite photovoltaic power systems. This
expertise has provided DUNMORE with the know-how to develop backsheet
solutions using modified films and laminates which yield better perfor-
mance while reducing weight and cost. DUNMORE has put that experience
to use in its DUN-SOLAR™ Photovoltaic barrier and insulation products.
DUN-SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC BACKSHEET
DUNMORE’S DUN-SOLAR line of backsheets provide long-term weatherability and physical
protection for photovoltaic modules. Panels are protected from moisture ingress, abrasion, and
punctures while receiving the right amount of electrical insulation.

Backsheet
DUN-SOLAR backsheets offer the ultimate in UV protection with
UV stable materials on both sides, with a wide range of
performance choices and economics, including
1.All Polyester Constructions: DUN-SOLAR PPE+ provides excellent
performance in a non-fluorinated film with outstanding UV and
Hydrolysis resistance,
2.Tedlar® Constructions: DUN-SOLARTPE, Dupont Tedlar*-based
products are traditionally sought after for their field proven
performance, lasting 30+years.
3. Thin Film Constructions: DUN-SOLAR TAPE, incorporating an Aluminum.
layer with Dupont Tedlar*- based products creates an ultimate moisture
barrier ideal for thin-film applications.
DUN-SOLAR DESIGN BENEFITS
~ Manufactured in the USA & Germany
Improved module efficiency - by incorporating a high gloss '
surface to increase solar reflectance e
Easily cleanable z
~ Chemically resistant
Very strong “tear” bond to EVA
~ Excellent stability under damp heat and freeze-thaw conditions |
= Superior bond strength - extended damp heat testing shows /
superior retention of bond strength for all layers of the laminate /[ee
THIN FILM SOLUTIONS
Our long history of manufacturing high performance films continues with our thin
film photovoltaic technology. In addition to the more common c-Si photovoltaic
module construction, DUNMORE has thin film photovoltaic solutions for second
generation solar technologies. DUNMORE offers thin film PV backsheets for:
- Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS)
= Amorphous Silicon (a-Si)
- Cadmium Telluride (CdTe)
- Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC)
Standard products for thin film technologies are available such as DUN-SOLAR,
TAPE &EPE laminates. Or we can provide development and manufacturing of,
your custom backsheet solution for solar concentrators and thin film photovoltaic
products including:
- Fluorinated film laminates
- Non-fluorinated film laminates
- Metallic film laminates
Regardless of the thin film technology, all of our DUN-SOLAR thin film photovolta-
ic backsheets are designed to:
- Aid in the production of lowest cost-per-watt.
= Conform to non flat surfaces promoting module flexibility
- Create a high vapor barrier to protect the thin film PV chemistry
All DUN-SOLAR products are developed, produced and tested in conformance with all common standards and
regulations.
All DUN-SOLAR backsheets are easily cleanable, chemically resistant and provide a very strong "tear bond" to
EVA encapsulants. They have exceptional stability under damp heat and freeze-thaw conditions. Extended
damp heat testing has shown superior retention of bond strength for all layers of the laminate
DUN-SOLAR CREDENTIALS
Backsheets are UL recognized under file QIHE2, Photovoltaic Polymeric Materials-Component.
AI DUN-SOLAR backsheets are certified by TUV for Partial Discharge. Their low shrinkage in vacuum lamination provides
bubble and wrinkle-free modules.
Our iSO 9001:2008 certified manufacturing facilities ensure our products and systems meet the high quality standards of
the photovoltaic industry
