THE CEREMONIAL SPEECH VALUES EXERCISE

Choose from one of the topics below.


1) Use your smart phone to search for some basic information on either the event, institution, or
historical figure you chose.
2) Then, in your group, determine what two values your choice demonstrates.
3) Next, determine what kind of ceremonial speech would be appropriate for your topic
(presentation, acceptance, introduction, etc.).
4) Finally, come up with a creative attention-getter and creative conclusion to a pretend speech
for your topic. Use either a story, quote, poetry, or song lyric that evokes the values your subject
demonstrates.
5) Clearly write down your answers. Be prepared to discuss your choices with the rest of the class.
