Abstract

This study aimed to assess the knowledge and patronization of the students of
MPSPC-Bontoc towards the products and services offered by financial
institutions. Specifically, it focused on the level of knowledge; the frequency of
patronization; and the factors that affect the knowledge and patronization of the
students. It made use of descriptive method and it involved 358 students
composed of the MPSPC – Bontoc Campus students enrolled in the 9
undergraduate programs.
Results showed that the students of MPSPC-Bontoc are well-informed though slightly
patronizing the services offered by financial institutions which is generally once a
month. Also statistical analysis revealed both significant difference on the mean
level of knowledge and mean level of patronage according to course.
Furthermore, knowledge and patronization are being affected by factors like
intensity of financial education, accessibility and financial capacity of the students
among others.
As a result, the researchers recommend that (insert original recommendation number
one). For efficiency and security of fund transfer, MPSPC-Bontoc students are also
recommended to open a savings account. Finally, a feasibility study should likewise be
conducted regarding the viability of offering fund transfers by cooperatives in
partnership with money transfer intermediaries.
