Tha Owner of tha-barga shall make the following im-date documents
aveilable for sighting during the condition and suitability survey:

Barge Towing Gear
General
Tovage shail ba fromthe baw of the barge.
The componeints of the towing gear are:
a) Bridie connection points, faireads, bridle legs anc bridla apax.
b) Bridla recovery system.
e} Emergency towing gear.

The witimate load capacity of the bridle connection points and faireads
shall not ba less than (2 x BP) + 40 tonres.

The bridla connection paints to the targe shall be of an approved type.
Preferably thay shoulc be able to be released ta allow a fouled tridie to
be claared
They shall be secured agaiost prernature release.
Sufficient urderdeck strength must be proviciec ‘for the bridle connection
points, They should preferably be sited at the intersecticn of transwerse
and lengitudiral bulkheads
Faitloads
Where fitted. the cosed chacks or otner gppvoved types of capped
faitleads, shall ba located close te the deck edge. in ine with the bridte
connection paints,
Where the bridle can bear on the déek edgs, the dack edce shall 2¢

Bridie Legs
Each bridle ‘eg shall ba of studlink chalin.
A composite studlink chain and wire bridle may be used when the chain
is of sufficient dength and extends bayond the deck ecga end other
protrusions to srevent chafing of the wire ops.
The andlink of each studlink chain shatl be an enlarged open link, not &
common link with the situd removed,
All wire rope components of the bridle shall have gusseted :himbles or
closed spelter sockats sittad.
The length of each bridle tag shall be at feast equal to the distance
between the bridle connectiom points but less than 1.5 times the
distance between the oricle connection points.
The ultimate load capacity of the bridia lags, brid!e apex and shackles
forrring part of the tridle shall mat be less than {2 x BP) + 40 tomnes.
Brigla Apex
The bridle apex legs shal be connected at tre apex by 2 celta plate of
towing ring.
Bridle Recovery Svsten
Tihe bridle recovery system shali consist of a winch and a recovery wire
connected to the orldle apex via a suitable laad which nay be a block
suspardad from an “A” ‘:ame, a rolier or a bolster p ate.
Tha recovery winch shall have its own power source and shall have an
adequate barral capacity for the required recovery wire.
Prior to departure or during the on~-+* survey it sihall be demonstrated
that the recovery winch is capable ot handling the weight of the bridle
plus attachments including the jatermediste towing pennant wire.
Tha breaking load of the-recovery wire, shackles, leads etc shall be at
least 60 tonnes.
