To Dr. Vispute:

Hello, my name is Eric Ko and I am a senior at Centennial High School. I am currently enrolled
in a class called Independent Mentorship where I serve as an intern at a company and take a step
into my desired career path. This year, I am interning at Blue Wave Semiconductors, where I
assist the company in their mission to provide thin film components and materials (mainly
semiconductor fabrication equipment).

Currently, I am conducting research about chemical vapor deposition, and have began with the
task of finding the effect Applied Voltage has on Power and Deposition Time of a Substrate
(during synthesis of diamond thin films). At Blue Wave, I have been recording the Raman
Spectroscopy of the filaments and using tungsten-sourced lights to measure the thickness of the
thin films, but lack extensive logs that could possibly show the relationship between the
aforementioned parameters. I have visited your website and have seen the many awards you have
won for your research, and I am personally fascinated by your research on CVD techniques for
the synthesis of single crystal nanowires and nanotubes.

I was hoping that you might be willing to share with me some data on my topic? In general, I am
new to the topic and would appreciate explanations behind certain phenomena and discussions
on related fields, such as Pulsed Laser Deposition.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. As a high school student conducting research, it
is difficult to come across data from true professionals in the field, and I would greatly
appreciate if you could assist me. You can reach me by my cell phone (410)428-7437, or my
email address eko4357@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Eric Ko
