Overview of teacher training session

Session aims
– To present / review the basic aims and stages of the grammar section of a lesson.
– For trainees to watch extracts from the same lesson taught by two experienced teachers and to
focus on aims, stages, and classroom procedure.
– To provide further practice in organizing the stages of a lesson from language clarification to
freer productive practice.
– For trainees to consider the role of grammar in the broader context of language input and
language output

Timing
Pre-DVD about 35 minutes
DVD 45 minutes (25 minutes to watch, 20 minutes to discuss answers)
Post-DVD about 30 minutes

Total 1 hour 50 minutes, but this could be shortened with more experienced trainees

Materials
– English Result Pre-intermediate DVD and worksheets
– OHP could be used for checking exercises 1 and 6
