Neon Tetra
Paracheirodon innesi
A very attractive and fascinating tropical fish that is exceedingly easy to care for, although
for this species to be truly happy in a UK environment, they must be kept in a heated tank.
A feeding of 1 pinch of flake to 6 individuals once daily should suffice as a balanced diet.
We use TetraMin flake, avaliable from most pet/aquatic shops, and they seem to adore
this! In addition, they take small portions of bloodworm also. It is quite normal for some
tetras to become fat after a meal, this goes within a day!
They mix readily with any other species of tetra, of which there are many, though this
species is one of the smaller varieties. They are mid to top level fish and so can spend a
lot of time at the surface of the water and definitely require a lid to prevent jumping out of
the tank.
