RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Data subject of research as many as 30 people. Patients with asthma in this study most of the sex
women 26 (86.67%) and men as many as 4 (13.33%) with an average age of 18.53 years (SD 5.31).
Respondents with SD graduates as much 0 people (0%), high school 27 people (90%), college high
1 person (3.33%), and 2 people (6.67%) graduated from junior high school. Respondents who do
not smoke as much 29 people (96.67%), never smoked 0 people (0%), and 1 person (3.33%)
smoked. The weight of respondents is flat average of 50.53 kg (SD 8.62) and average height patient
163.5 cm (SD 7.94). Respondents with a normal body mass index of 18 people (60%), less weight
and pre obesity respectively each 12 people (40%) and 0 people (0%) with obesity.

ACT Score (Asthma Control Test)

The highest ACT score earned on this study is a perfect score of 25 and scores lowest earned 6.
Average ACT score obtained in this research that is 16,43 (SD 6,16).

AGKQ score (Asthma General Knowledge Questionnaire)

Scores of asthma based knowledge level AGKQ obtained the highest value of 90% and the value
the lowest is 32%, with the average score being obtained is 67.28% (12.56 SD).

Uncontrolled asthma respondents who had low knowledge of 13 people (54,17%) and with a high
knowledge of 11 people (45,83%). Asthma quisionaire respondents is partially controlled with
knowledge as low as 1 person (25%) and with high knowledge as many as 3 people (75%). The
asthma respondent was totally controlled with knowledge as low as 0 person (0%) and with high
knowledge as many as 2 people (100%). Can be concluded there is a difference the proportion of
knowledge level in asthma is not controlled, 54,17% of respondents found no asthma controlled
with low asthma knowledge and 45,83% with high asthma knowledge. In this study obtained value
significancy of 0,0001 p value <0.05 then there is a significant relationship between levels
knowledge of asthma with asthma control level.

1. Level of Asthma Knowledge

Level of knowledge of asthma in the study this was assessed based on the AGKQ
questionnaire, which is flat average AGKQ score obtained from this study is 67.28%. So it
can be concluded that most of the respondents had asthma in this study has a high level of
asthma knowledge. In contrast research by Alfian got the score average level of knowledge
through the AGKQ questionnaire as much as 58.59%, with the conclusion that most adult
asthma respondents have low asthma knowledge (Wardani, VK. 2012). Of the 10 respondents
quisionaire of asthma were found as many as 4 (40%) with asthma knowledge level the low
and 6 people (60%) with the level knowledge of asthma is high. These results are not the same
with previous research by Dorris get asthma quisionaire respondents with knowledge high
asthma less that is 3 people (30%) and asthma quisionaire respondents with low knowledge
level as many as 7 people (70%) . It is similar found in research conducted by Alfian obtained
as many as 4 people (40%) with a high level of asthma knowledge and 6 people (60%) with
low asthma knowledge level (Edisworo, M.W, 2009). This may be related to the number of
samples small to produce a higher percentage large and many other factors that affect level of
knowledge of asthma that is not known in the this research.
2. Asthma Control Level
Level of asthma control in this study obtained based on ACT questionnaire results. ACT Score
the highest in this study was 25 with a score lowest 6 and the average score obtained is 16,43
so it can be summed up most asthma quisionaire respondents in this study had asthma who
not controlled (Yessy, SS. 2010). So did previous research conducted by Elistika at
Sumbersari village where an average ACT score was scored initial study of 14,7 which also
concluded most asthma respondents have asthma levels uncontrolled. Based on ACT
examination results found 7 people (70%) with no asthma controlled, 3 people (30%) with
controlled asthma in part, and 2 people with total controlled asthma (6,66%).
3. Relationship Level of Asthma Knowledge with Asthma Control Level
In this study the difference is obtained the proportion of uncontrolled asthma that has low and
high asthma knowledge. So that it canconcluded there is a relationship between levels
knowledge of asthma with asthma control level (p < 0,05) with p value obtained that is 0.0001.
Results this corresponds to previous theories based on studies Cicak B et al with the results of
the study (p <0.0001) concluded that there is a relationship level knowledge of asthma with
asthma control level respondents (Atmoko, et al, 2011). Similarly, research done by Alfian at
Sumbersari. Dorris got level knowledge of asthma with asthma control level has a significance
of 0.041, which indicates there was a significant relationship of p value <0,05. However this
is not appropriate with the research previously done by Elistika where of the data testing
results do not prove the existence a statistically meaningful relationship between level of
asthma knowledge to the level of control asthma, obtained p value = 0.189.14. Based on the
AGKQ questionnaire data, it was found in this study that that statement most answered wrong
wrong about death due to asthma that can occur so quickly so do not have time to start
treatment. While the statement answered correctly by all respondents is about reducing asthma
attacks by trying to find out and avoid the causes of asthma attacks and triggers statement that
asthma if it is controlled with drugs will be difficult for the onset of asthma attacks back. This
proves to have increased knowledge of asthma patients to achieve asthma controlled or free
from asthma symptoms with avoiding trigger and therapeutic factors the right medical. This
corresponds to research conducted by Allen RM et al., where to achieve excellent asthma
control the need for self-management and therapy the right medical.
