Recomendaciones energéticas
El sistema INRA utiliza una única unidad para todas las funciones
(mantenimiento, crecimiento), la UFC, que corresponde a 1820 Kcal de
energía neta para el crecimiento. Los sistemas AFRC y EEZ calculan las
necesidades en energía neta (EN) para cada estado fisiológico, que
posteriormente se convierten a energía metabolizable (EM) utilizando
una eficacia de conversión específica (K) según la función fisiológica en la
que se encuentre el animal. El sistema IGR basa sus estimaciones en el
cálculo de la EN, como hemos indicado anteriormente, o mediante
estimación directa de la EM obtenida por regresión (EM ingerida sobre
Energía Retenida). El NRC (2007) utiliza únicamente este último método
de regresión.
Recomendaciones proteicas
Para corderas:
PM ó PDI g/g ADG = 0,23 (NRC, 2007)
Para cabritas:
PM ó PDI g/g ADG = 0,24 (AFRC, 1998) ó 0,29 (IGR, 2004)
(1998) recomienda una eficacia del 59% para todos los rumiantes. Y la
EEZ obtiene una eficacia del 51% para caprino.

Cobre.- Los niveles de cobre son muy delicados, debido a que existe
una diferencia muy pequeña entre la deficiencia y la intoxicación, con el
problema añadido de que las intoxicaciones pueden ser crónicas puesto
que la excreción es muy lenta y tiende a acumularse especialmente en el

Selenio.- Los granos contienen la mitad del selenio que los forrajes
crecidos en el mismo suelo. Su función antioxidante lo hace estar muy
relacionado con la vitamina E y pueden cubrir esta función
alternativamente. Por lo tanto, los niveles de selenio deben de ir en
relación con los de la vitamina E.

Locomoción
En ganado ovino los trabajos de Farrell y col. (1972) valoran los
gastos por desplazamiento horizontal en 0,68 cal/Kg PV/m. Según los
estudios en caprino de raza Granadina de Lachica y col. (1997a), el
coste energético por desplazamiento sobre un plano horizontal es de
0,80 cal/Kg PV/m. Siendo m los metros recorridos por el animal.
Ingestión
La tabla siguiente muestra los datos publicados de gasto energético
asociado con la ingestión de alimento en rumiantes de interés ganadero.
