Part 1

1. Describe with your own words the effect of chromatic aberration in an image
obtained with optical instruments.
2. What planet was at inferior conjunction relative to the Earth at the beginning of
April 2014?
3. Describe the following terms: meteor, meteorite, and meteoroid.
4. In what constellation can be seen the major meteor radiant having maximum
activity around the middle of December?
5. Calculate the angular diameter of Venus on Earth’s sky at 12th of April
2014(western elongation 45 degrees). The radius of Venus is Rv=6052 km and its
large semiaxis is av=108,2*10^6 km.

Part 2

Point out on the image below the following details which can be seen on the surface of
the Moon:

the craters:Copernic( mark with “L1”), Tycho(L2), Kepler(L3) and Platon (L4)
Montes Carpatus(L5)
Mare Imbirum(L6)

e) two oriented arcs (marked with V1 and V2) for Vega’s hourly coordinates. Write on
the exam paper the name of the coordinates and the values for Vega.
f) the constellations: Sagita, Libra, Sagittarius (marked with C1, C2 and C3
receptively).
g) the stars: beta Lib, alpha Her, delta Cep (marked with S1, S2 and S3 respectively)

and Vega? What is its corresponding spectral class?
