Renewable energy Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished ona human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, alr and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural (off-grid) energy services. Renewable energy Advantages ‘One major advantage of renewable energy is that itis sustainable and will never run out. They provide clean energy because they are non-pollutant and non-contributor to greenhouse effects and global ‘warming. Renewable energy facilities generally require less maintenance than traditional generators. Their fuel being derived from natural and available resources reduces the costs of operation. Renewable ‘energy produces litle or no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants, so have ‘a minimal impact on the environment. Wind power Wind power is the use of air flow through wind turbines to mechanically power generators for electricity. Wind power, as an alternative to burning fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation, consumes no water, and uses little land. The net effects on the environment are better than those of nonrenewable power sources. Airflows can be used to run wind turbines. Modern utiity-scale wind turbines range from, around 600 kW to 5 MW of rated power, although turbines with rated output of 1.5-3 MW have become the most common for commercial use. Hydropower Hydropower is power derived from the energy of falling water or fast running water, which may be harnessed for useful purposes. Since ancient times, hydropower from many kinds of watermills has been used as a renewable energy source "Non Businss Use Solar power Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic cells convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect, Nom-Business Use
