Nitinol is an alloy of Nickel and Titanium in proportion of 45% Titatinum and 55% Nickel.

This alloy has a unique properties is that it has a shape memory and super elasticity. Shape Memory is
nitinol ability to recover it's original shape after it undergoes deformation at a temperature. In Super
elasticity external heating is not required to recover its deformed shape. The elasticity is 10 to 30 times
more than the ordinary metal.

Shape memory alloys have the property of arranging the atoms in one of two distinctive crystal patterns
or phases, known as martensite and austenite. The austenitic course of action is the most minimized,
with the molecules as near one another as they can get, however pressing particles this firmly requires
vitality. Under typical conditions, and beneath the change temperature, Nitinol will naturally adopt the
arrangement of lower-energy martensite.

Application: It is used in the multielectrode ablation catheter- the circular loop is created using Nitinol
as it can retains its circular shape over time after it reaches the heart.
