Ms. Caturano began at Cedar Fork Elementary in August of 2016 as a first grade teacher and she has exceeded my expectations as she works diligently to ensure that all of her students are successful, behaviorally and academically. When I think of the three most important qualities that describe Ms. Caturano, what comes to mind is learner, humble, and committed. Ms. Caturano constantly has a learner stance and approach as it relates to exploring new strategies, ideas, and resources to meet the needs of her learners. She is extremely humble and always ‘eager to accept feedback to improve her craft. In regards to her instructional practices, she has such a solid ‘command of her classroom and her classroom environment is one that is supportive, loving, and caring, Students are encouraged to take risks, collaborate with each other, critique each other's ideas using accountable talk, and demonstrate leadership while working in teams. Ms. Caturano also works collaboratively with her colleagues to exchange ideas and discuss student data. Lastly, she views parents as partners and maintains ongoing communication with them in order to support student learning, Ms, Caturano is knowledgeable of the content standards and her ELA and Math lessons are very much aligned with the Math and ELA Common Core Shifts. She effectively teaches her students how to become proficient readers as she delivers explicit literacy instruction via interactive read alouds and small group guided reading instruction, In regards to math instruction, Ms. Caturano’s lessons encourage students to develop their conceptual understanding and procedural fluency for the targeted standards. In addition, Ms. Caturano has demonstrated leadership beyond the classroom by serving as a School Improvement Team representative for her grade level. This role allows her to engage in data analysis and collaboration with colleagues to help all students achieve our overall school goal. Without any reservation, I highly recommend Ms. Caturano for a position in your district. She will be sorely missed at Cedar Fork Elementary, but I know that she will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of children wherever she may go.
