Calculating the area of a square, rectangle or circle cake pan.

square = a 2

rectangle = ab

circle = π r 2

(pi = = 3.141592...)

Example: You are using a recipe that calls for 2- 9 inch round cake pans

1. 9 inches represents the diameter of your cake pan

2. Radius= 9 ÷ 2= 4.5 inches

Formula for area of a circle is--------- circle = πr 2

3. So… square your radius 4.5 x 4.5 = 20.25 inches

4. 3.14 x 20.25= 63.58 inches (Round to 64 inches)

Starlight Yellow Cake batter is enough for 2- 9 inch rounds

2
So….. 64 inches needs to be doubled (for 2 cake pans)

2
Total surface area of the Starlight Yellow Cake recipe is 128 inches
