Use your brush pen to form downstrokes in the spaces provided here.

You can make a good downstroke by


applying firm, even pressure to the side of your nib.

Now, try drawing upstrokes. The trick to upstrokes is to “kiss” the very tip of the brush pen to the paper, take a
deep breath, then let your pen glide upward. Upstrokes can be tricky, so have patience with yourself!

Horizontal strokes require the same amount of pressure as upstrokes. Try drawing a few in the rectangles below:

Trace over the “hills” drill below, then continue writing the “hills” pattern to fill in the blank space.

Trace over the “swirls” drill below, then use the “swirls” drill to fill in the three blank squares on the right.
Practice writing this alphabet. Begin by observing the letters on the top, then use the blank lines below to write.
