Language Self-study Reflection

In this quarter, I have finished four tutorial assignments, which are coherence and

cohesion, wordy sentences, inaccurate word choice, and rules of articles. I intentionally chose

these four assignments according to my weakness in writing. As I wrote my essays, I

gradually discovered some of the knowledge points that I was not familiar with such as the

use of articles. Also, I got feedback about some problems in my writing such as wordy

sentences from professor and my classmates. After finishing a major writing assignment, I

would do a tutorial assignment to fix the problems that I discovered. In this way, I was able to

improve my writing skills. The apply part of Language Power allowed me to directly use the

knowledge I just learned to correct the mistakes in my essay. This grammar book is especially

helpful for the writing assignments of this quarter. Although there were basically no grammar

lessons in daily lecture and no grammar quizzes like last quarter, my knowledge of writing

was still improved a lot.

Yet, this quarter shall not be an ending of my English writing experience; it is just the

beginning. In the future, I will continue to use this book to study grammar and enhance my

writing skills.
