THE EFFECT OF TURBOCHARGER PRESSURE AND INTERCOOLER TEMPERATURE ON DIESEL CYCLE

ENGINE

INTRODUCTION

Turbocharger is a component that is widely used in most of diesel engine and a traditional
naturally aspirated gasoline engine to increase its efficiency and performance. It function to
compresses more air intake to engine cylinder for combustion the turbocharger powered by the
exhaust gas pressure and it rotates the turbine for air to be compressed.

Intercooler is a device that came along with the turbocharger. It function to cool the air that
being compressed by the turbocharger before entering the engine’s cylinder. It takes place after the
air being compressed by the turbocharger and before entering the engine cylinders.

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of this project is to study the effect of the turbocharger pressure and intercooler
temperature on diesel cycle engine performances. In addition, to know how to measure the effect of
the turbocharger pressure and intercooler temperature by calculation and lastly to find suggestion
or improvement that can be made to improve the thermal efficiency of the diesel cycle engine.
