Introduction

Wix was founded in 2006 by Israelis Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami and Giora
Kaplan. The company, headquartered in Tel Aviv, with offices in San Francisco, New York
City, Dnipro, Kyiv, and Vilnius, is backed by investors Insight Venture Partners, Mangrove
Capital Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Benchmark Capital.
Wix.com is a cloud-based web development platform that was first developed and
popularized by the Israeli company also called Wix. It allows users to create HTML5 web
sites and mobile sites through the use of online drag and drop tools. Users may add
functionality such as social plug-ins, e-commerce, contact forms, e-mail marketing, and
community forums to their web sites using a variety of Wix-developed and third-party
applications.
Wix is built on a freemium business model, earning its revenues through premium
upgrades. Users must purchase premium packages in order to connect their sites to their
own domains, remove Wix ads, add e-commerce capabilities, or buy extra data storage and
bandwidth.
By April 2010 Wix had 3.5 million users and raised $10 million in Series C funding
provided by Benchmark Capital and existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and
Mangrove Capital Partners. In March 2011, Wix had 8.5 million users and raised $40
million in Series D funding, bring its total funding to that date to $61 million. In April
2014, Wix announced its acquisition of Appixia, an Israeli startup for creating native
mobile commerce (mCommerce) apps. In October 2014, Wix announced its acquisition of
Open Rest, a developer of online ordering systems for restaurants. On February 23, 2017,
Wix acquired the online art community Deviant Art for $36 million.

Discussion and Analysis

This computer technology practice project manages to let we know about the web
development platform that was first developed and popularized by the Israel company
called Wix. While doing this project we gain knowledge about how to produce a website
that we can use to advertise our company products or business. In this project we had decide
to sell shoes which our target customers are mostly teenagers and students. Wix is a very
useful website to create any stunning website that we like and it was very easy to use.

Using Wix is simpler than building a web using Dreamweaver because we do not
need any coding to produce the website. It is all provided in the website itself. The only
thing we need to do is to choose any colour or theme that suit our desire. Wix also give
many templates that we can use as a background for the website. So in a simple word, we
just need to choose any template and edit it in the Wix editor by dragging or dropping
pictures or quotes for your website so it will become interesting.

In addition, if we are selling shoes, we need to create some pages for the shoes to
separate the men and women shoes and also the shoes that are in discount/sale. So, Wix
manage to add pages to our website by just clicking at the editor menu and click page. In
the page menu, you can add or remove the pages that you or Wix itself created.

Lastly, Wix is a good website editor because it will pop-up a notification to save all
your work as long as you do the website. So this feature will prevent your data missing
from the computer and website. This is the best because you can continue to build the
website anytime and anywhere because your website is already saved.
