THE MAKING OF COMPOST

Compost is rich in nutrients.
The compost itself is beneficial for the land in many ways, including as a soil
conditioner, a fertilizer, addition of vital humus or humic acids, and as a natural
pesticide for soil.
The process of composting requires making a heap of wet organic matter (also called
green waste), such as leaves, grass, and food scraps, and waiting for the materials
to break down into humus after a period of months.
Proper aeration is maintained by turning the heap time and again.
Earthworms and fungi further break up the material.
fungi manage the chemical process by converting the inputs into heat, carbon
dioxide, and ammonium.

BIOPESTICIDES
Biopesticides are natural pesticides that are sourced from natural materials, such
as minerals, bacteria, plants, or animals.
According to botanists, there are around thousands of products that are registered
as biopesticides and hundreds of active ingredients that are considered to have
biopesticide properties.
When used in plants and crops, these products check the growth of harmful bacteria
and fungi etc.
Also being organic in origin, these products do not cause any sort of pollution to
the environment.

CINNAMON AND CLOVE :

The main biologically active substances in cinnamon are cinnamaldehyde and eugenol
that render it the pesticidal property.
As a pesticide, cinnamons
main mode of action with insects appears to be as a repellent, although it has
biocidal action at higher
doses. Phytotoxic effects of cinnamon make it a possible herbicide

SLIDE 6:

NEEM AND GARLIC:

It reduces insect feeding and acts as a repellent. It also interferes with insect
hormone systems, making it harder for insects to grow and lay eggs. Azadirachtin
can also repel and reduce the feeding of nematodes. Other components of neem oil
kill insects by hindering their ability to feed.(1)

Theres a reason garlic has been used for centuries as a natural medicine it has
antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties. These attributes are also
what make this healing herb such a potent pesticide.
