Paper position differs for right-handed and left-handed writers, with right-handed writers often tilting the paper to the right and left-handed writers placing the paper in various positions depending on their writing style. For calligraphy, right-handed writers may tilt the paper for some styles like italic but keep it straight for others like gothic, while left-handed writers' usual writing position determines whether a right-oblique or left-oblique nib is most suitable. The document recommends left-handed writers experiment to find the best paper position for their needs.

a word to my left-handed friends Paper position differs for right and left-handed people.
Like most right-handed people, when I write “normally” I
tend to tilt my paper off to the right side. This also applies when I do certain types of calligraphy like the italic script. However, my paper is kept straight in front of me when doing other styles of calligraphy (such as the gothic hand).
The case is different for lefties. Depending on your
habitual writing position, you may choose to place your paper in one of the positions shown (at right). Moreover, your usual writing position will determine whether a right- oblique or left-oblique nib is most suitable for you when using traditional calligraphy nibs. (This does not apply to the parallel pens, as the nib is cut at a right angle.)
I suggest that you experiment different paper positions, to
