For my project I chose to was serve and give back to my church, Sandals. I chose this as

my project because religion plays a big role in my life and I figured that this was the best way to

give back to an organization that gives me so much more than I could ever explain.

I chose this because the church is a place that doesn’t charge some kind of entry fee or

cost to be in service which is amazing and one of the big reasons I want to give back. So far I

have only been able to serve 4 times. I did sign up to volunteer for 6 months and if it’s something

I continue to enjoy and have time for I will sign up again. I work during the week making it hard

to volunteer throughout the week but I do serve on Sundays and I drive the golf cart around to

give people rides to the main entrance if the parked far or even have trouble walking. One of the

only problems I’ve had with serving is waking up on time. I have made it every time. At the

beginning of this journey my first step was just signing up and making it to service. Throughout

this whole experience it only took a couple of easy steps to get started, including going online

and signing up, showing up, getting my badge then starting whatever you signed up for. My

accomplishments with this project and through this process would have to be me actually

sticking with it and being excited to serve. I’m very proud of myself for sticking with it, waking

up on time, and making time to serve. Something I wish I did differently would be signing up

earlier. The main reason I never signed up was because I didn’t want to commit and not have

time to serve. I do think I was able to solve my own problem or road block by forcing myself to

go to bed earlier and set more alarms. This project has really shown me how to give back and

believe in myself, and if I want to do something not to assume I won’t have time. Some healthy

advice for an incoming senior would be to really stay on top of everything, get things done early

and stay organized.
