• Last class, we learned our ABCs.

Daily Objectives
• SWBAT sing and do the corresponding movement to Do Re Me Fa from the
sound of music.

Concept and Skill Development and Application

• The big concept we are trying to teach is that if you associate song and
movement, it makes it easier to remember information. Also to listen and to
follow direction.
• We are going to start the song by singing Do Re Mi Fa from The Sound of
Music with the corresponding movement that is listed below.
o “Do a deer a female deer” Put hands on top of the head like a deer
antlers
o “Rei a drop of golden sun” Raise hand in the air and wiggle your
fingers
o “Mi a name I call myself” they are going to point at their chest
o “Fa a long long way to run” they are going to wipe their head as if
they were running for a long time.
o “So a needle pulling tread” Act like you are sewing
o “La a note to follow so” Shrug you shoulder
o “Ti a drink with jam and bread” They are going to act like they are
drinking tea
o “that will bring us back to do- oh-oh” then go back to the antlers
• For the assessment the student will be divided into groups. Then they will
have to sing and do movements for a specific part of the song.
Guide / Independent/ Group Practice
• During the lesson students will get several times to practice
• The first time they are only going to listen and watch
• Then we are going to teach them the movements and the song
• Then all together we are going at half speed 2 to 3 times
• The class will practice all together in a big group without the teachers help
• Then give them a few moments to practice with each other for their
assessment.
Homework
• Will have to write down the whole song on their own from memory

Closure
• What was your favorite part of what we learned?
• The base of their answer we are going to relate to the big concept
