What is static inverter?

Static inverters are used to produce AC Power from DC. The DC Power in this
case came from the batteries. The AC is produced by using power
semiconductors to chop up the DC into something that approximates a sine
curve

A static inverter is virtually configured to operate in 'active standby' mode with

the bypass supplying the load during normal conditions.

When a mains failure occurs contactors are used to transfer to inverter with the
standby batteries then supporting the load (typically for 1 hour or 3 hours
depending on application).

Static inverters are used for a wide range of applications in aircraft and in many
cases the presence may not be easily noticed — such as the fuel pump running
on a 28v DC input but containing an AC motor.

Proximity switches are another good example of a device with a concealed

inverter
