the history of Halloween

It is about "Halloween ". Halloween is celebrated mostly in the United


States, Canada, United Kindom, and Ireland, were first began. Halloween
means big bussines for American stores, too, since people buy Halloween
candy and costumes every year. The Halloween holyday celbrated todaiyis
part of a very old tradition.

The Celts celebrated a harvest festival called Samhain each fall. The Celtic
Samhain festival also had a supernatural side.

Later, as Christianity spred throughout Europe, the Ctholic Church tried to


replace Samhain with its own traditions. Many of the older Celtic traditions
lived on in this new holiday-especially the belief in supernatural activity on
the night of October 31.

The tradition of dressing up in costumes has changed many times over the
centuries.

Jack-o'-lanterns are made by carving faces or designs into a pumpkin.

The classic game of Halloween is wen players attemt to remove an apple


from a tub of water using only their mouth.

Halloweens traditions are stil changing, mixing the new with the old.
