4 Concept Testing
Concept testing is the last part of concept selection. This step is to solicit responses to a
description of the product concept which has been choosen in previous step. Concept testing will
prove the acceptability and potency of our product’s concept if we continue the development and
launch the product.
The purpose of concept testing is to know whether the concept we propose fulfilled customer’s
needs, to see their interest on self-healing ceramics product and to gather information to improve
our product. To achieve it, we do the survey through questionnaire and direct interview. This
answer or response for customer is the result of our explanation about the concept that we
proposed, starting from the work principle until the cost and benefits of our product.
The population of survey came from our potential customers. We devided our protential customets
into two groups, direct user and recommenders. Direct users are those who has used ceramics as
their flooring and recommenders are mostly stakeholders whose jobs includes recommendating
material for our customers flooring. We gave the direct users a set of questionnaires, while we
gave the recommenders a series of question for interviewing.
