Assalaamu Alaikum wa rahmathullahi wa barakaathuhu.

Honorable principle, respected teachers, dear students,

Regarding the topic that we are dealing today-Why is breakfast the

important meal of the day?

Well, the topic of breakfast being the important meal of the day is
something stressed throughout generations. Our parents, the media and
society consider breakfast as the most important meal.

However, is breakfast the important meal of the day? It’s a hotly contested
question in the nutrition world.

The nutrition world is divided about the importance of breakfast

One group of nutritionist and experts say that people who eat breakfast are
less likely to overeat the rest of the day,

Breakfast-eaters tend to have lower rates of heart disease, high blood

pressure and high cholesterol as reported by the American Heart
Association, but the group also says the science isn’t strong enough to
suggest that people who don’t normally eat breakfast should start.

And despite a plethora of research, the scientific community still hasn’t

come to a solid conclusion as to when the best time to eat your first meal of
the day really is.

However for kids like us, studies have shown that eating a meal first thing in
the morning has a positive influence on cognitive performance in school,
especially on task-oriented behaviors—and particularly in students younger
than 18.

Another group of nutritionists and experts say that skipping breakfast

would not affect health.

They say that whether you eat breakfast at dawn or save your first meal until
the day has moved well into lunch territory, breaking your fast with a
balanced meal is what is important.
In conclusion, why just put ourselves to unnecessary risk. None of the
experts claim that breakfast is bad for health! But there are studies that
show that breakfast contributes to good health.

If we look into the diet habit of the Muslims in the earliest times, it was not
their custom to eat three meals every day as people do nowadays. Rather the
most they would have would be two meals: one at the beginning of the day
and another in the evening. So breakfast has been an important meal in our
Islamic tradition from the time of the prophet sallalaahu alaihi wa sallam

Now what is important for us today is not how important breakfast is as a

meal, but what do we eat for breakfast matters. Many of our youth of our
time eat junk and sugary foods, especially for breakfast which is bad for
health in long term. Healthy foods are not a choice for many of us. Rather
people even laugh at those who eat healthy meals.

So it’s important that we eat healthy balanced diet for breakfast which are
rich in protein and other nutrition. Also as a side note do not forget to say
Bismillah before you eat to be blessed in your meal and avoid shaythan
share your meal, and after you eat thank Allah for the blessings of food and
do not waste food.

While we, at this moment are enjoying the privilege of debating if breakfast
is important meal or not, there are many who are wondering and debating
what would their next meal be? That’s what we call poverty.

Jazakamullah khairan.
Assalaamu Alaikum wa rahmathullahi wa barakaathuhu.

Honorable principle, respected teachers, dear students,

How young is too young to use an iphone is our topic, or lets say How young
is too young to use a smart phone.

Well, many of us would have learned in our history lessons and human
science about Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. To put it simply, human
at early times used stones and tools for hunting and surviving and evolved
through bronze age and Iron Age.

In these different stages, they used stone, bronze and iron as tools for
survival. However it seems that we have surpassed these stages and reach an
age of technology and science. Technology and science is rapidly changing
our lives. Technology is turning out to be a tool for our survival.

A couple of decades ago, we were not far away from our early ancestors’
lifestyle. It was after the industrial revolution life started to change.
Especially communication devices have evolved very rapidly. 15- 20 years
back this country had a lot of telephone booths which people used to pay
for, to communicate with their loved ones. But technology has evolved and
the communication industry has become very advanced and cheaper with
internet and smart devices.

Smart phones are now essential tools for our day to day life. It is hard to
find nowadays someone without a smart phone. Smart phones are required
to communicate with our family through many apps like Whatsapp, IMO,
DUO et cetera. Also people use social media to make groups for creating
charity organizations, blood donation campaigns, educational groups etc. It
is used to spread very great initiatives which are beneficial for our society.

Smart phones’ use has expanded in many ways we never imagined. Smart
phones has apps for education, communication, bank transactions,
budgeting, health and fitness, weight loss, social and private meeting,
planning etc. We use these devices to save our memories, study notes,
important dates. Even the devices link with other smart application like
washing machine, TV, coffee maker, CCTV etc can be operated from
anywhere. One of us can switch on the smart washing machine at their
home while waiting in the office or park. Someone can program their coffee
machine to brew the coffee 10 minutes before you reach home.
However are these smart devices smart enough to make humans dumb?
That is the dilemma the society is facing today. People of all age groups are
highly dependent on smart phones, not only dependant but also addicted.
People are turning our addicts to their phones and seeking professional help
to recover from addiction as it is affecting their life, studies, work and their
relationship with the real world, real people and real friends. Both young
and old has fallen victims to this problem.

We see people everywhere staring at the screens, in social gathering, places

of worship, while walking, crossing road, at home and even in toilets.

People are reported to waste huge amounts of time playing games like
Candy crush, or scrolling facebook post, watching videos for hours, and
chatting with “virtual friends” whom we do not know. Many are victims who
were recruited for child abuse, terrorism and many other social evil.
Strangely smart phones also have apps to control smart phone addictions
too.

There is a quote attributed to Albert Einstein, that he said "I fear the day
that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a
generation of idiots."

Smart phones are a great portal for knowledge, but when the people do not
know how to use them, those very devices do more harm to the inner
wellbeing of a person, young and old alike, than they do good

Cell phones are getting thinner and smarter, while people are becoming
fatter and dumber due to their attachment to smart phones.

Smart phones have kept people far away from books and reading habit. It
definitely has a negative contribution for the young generation who will
become the future leaders. All leaders should definitely be readers. This
point would be a main concern for my brothers who would be speaking
today about the topic “Readers of today are leaders of tomorrow”.

In conclusion, I would say that when our experienced and well grown adults
couldn’t handle the addiction of smart phone, the younger generation
should not be given an iphone, or in that case any smart phone until they
experience and enjoy the real world, real nature, real friend, and are
thoroughly trained how to use the phone as a tool.
Awareness should be spread among people both young and old about the
dangers of smart phone and how to use them wisely to reap the benefit and
live our lives to the fullest. If somebody can use an iphone with restriction
and with correct understanding of how to manage his time and use wisely,
then age doesn’t matter.

Therefore I would suggest that it would be okay for the respective judges to
give an iphone as a prize to me if I happen to win the speech contest today.

Jazakamullah khaira.
