Migraines

What are migraines?


- A neurological disorder where the human body reacts to a small situation with
an exaggerated response
- It manifests in the form of a headache, ranging in severity and can also include
sensitivity to the senses, blurred vision, nausea, and vomitting
Nervous System
- Migraines happen due to issues with the nervous system.
- The main components of the nervous system are:
- Trigeminal Nerves
- Neuron Cells
- Synaptic Gap
- Ion Channels
What causes migraines?
- A genetic defect exists in some individuals where
there are defective ion channels, that result in over
reactions to stimuli… ultimately causing migraines
- This is however, only one cause of migraines
- Other risk factors include age, female hormones,
brain scarring
Treatments
- Since doctors do not completely understand migraines, treatments are
sometimes difficult, some treatments are below:
- Prescription drugs
- Electronic headband
- Botox
- Exercise
