2. Because mercator projection preserved

90o angles between latitude and longitude
lines around the world and navigation at
sea used bearing to know the direction of
one object from another. So when sailor
took a long journey around the world they
don’t need to recalculate bearing as they
moved. Due to this, mercator projection is
widely used in navigation and made world
exploration much easier.

3. Originally it was designed to cover same

area between northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere, from 80o N to 80o S. But it’s
appear to exclude some area of Russia and Greenland in the northern hemisphere, so it’s
extended by some degree to cover excluded area.

Coordinate of point B is 6°53'13.38“ S and 107°36'37.0024 “ E
Distance between point A and B is 57.567 m
Distance between point B and C is 57.567 m

5. Depth of the first bathymetric line is 3 m
