Please watch the video and explain the meaning of LARGE STRAIN and SMALL

STRAIN. Another question is, what is YOUNG MODULUS?

large strain and small strain

Strain is deformation of a beam. Deformation divide by original length to find the strain. The Large
strain occur when the beam has large deformation. Then it will call large strain. It has a space between
the molecule. When force is applied at the beam, molecule will compress. Because of the beam has
space between the molecule, it forms large deformation. The small strain occurs when the beam has
small deformation and it will call small strain. It has small space between them the molecule. When
apply the force to the beam, the molecule will less compress.

Young modulus

The Young's modulus directly Measures the stiffness of the Solid material. It defines the
relationship between stress and strain in a material or beam . Young’s modulus (E) is a measure of
the ability of a material to withstand changes in length when under length wise tension or
compression. Young’s modulus (E) is a measure of the ability of a material to withstand changes
in length when under length wise tension or compression. Young's modulus is also used in order to
predict the deflection that will occur in a statically determinate beam when a load is applied at a
point in between the beam's supports.
