Agricutural waste and its management are one of the emerging problems in the food industry here in

the Phillipines such as poultry egg shells and swine sludge.

According to Laca et.al. (2017), eggshells are considered as hazardous waste in UE regulations so they
are throwing hundreds of tons worldwide. However, the result of his study stated that egg processing waste is
considered as source material used in different field such as fodder or fertilizer production. Additionally, in the
study of Oliveira et al., (2013) it was mentioned that eggshell is composed of about 96% calcium carbonate, 1%
magnesium carbonate, 1% calcium phosphate, organic materials (mainly proteins) and water which are all
beneficial elements in yielding plants.

The result of the study conducted by Bakshi et.al.,(2019) revealed that the use of sewage sludge
containing nano-TiO2 increased the growth and yield of their variable tomato plant, it decreases leaf tannin, and
most importantly finding is that the use of sewage sludge made no major implication regarding food safety. On
the contrary, the result of the study conducted by Ezzariai et.al., (2018) revealed that sewage sludge, and
manure contains the presence of heavy metals that is one of the elements in antibiotics production. Since the
use of antibiotics in human or veterinary medicines is increasing rapidly they concluded that the possible
consequence of too much antibiotic whether through medication or food intake can lead to death. However,
they also provided a solution for that argument. According to them, composting or sewage treatment can help
in eliminating its antibiotic content.
