Notes:
Supply voltage
The supply voltage can be connected redundantly. Both inputs are uncoupled.
With redundant supply, the transformer supplies the device alone with the
higher output voltage. The supply voltage is electrically isolated from the
housing. You can choose between DC or AC voltage when connecting the
supply voltage. You use the +24V and 0V pins to connect the AC voltage.
Signal contact
The signal contact monitors proper functioning of the device, thus enabling
remote diagnostics.
The 2-pin DIP switch on the front panel of the device offers you the following
possibilities:
LA learn OFF: Link control of ports learned until now, no more ports will be
learned. Only learned ports will generate link alarm in case of a link failure.
LA learn ON: Ports after having link will be learned and monitored. Learned
ports generate link alarm in case of a link failure (even in case of a reset or
a power failure).
LA learn OFF -> ON -> OFF within 1 second:
Deactivate link control on every port.
LA learn ON -> OFF -> ON within 1 second:
Activate link control on every port.

Slide-in power units for MACH 4000 switch chassis
DM4-S-AC/DC 300W
DM4-S-24VDC 300W, 2 inputs for redundant power supply
DM4-S-48VDC 300W, 2 inputs for redundant power supply
15
Notes:
The M4-POWER power unit chassis enables redundant power supply. It has
three slots for slide-in power units. The slide-in power units can be replaced
during operation (hot-swappable).
Depending on the slide-in power units connected, you can use an M4-POWER
power unit chassis to realize the redundant power supply for several MACH
4000 devices.
16
Notes:
Manufacturing Level devices are delivered with L2B (only a few RS devices),
L2E or L2P.
MACH 100, MACH 1000, OCTOPUS and OS are delivered with L2P only
17
Notes:
L2B offer only a limited functionality.
L2E adds functions to the L2B, i. e. operation of the functions common to both
is identical.
L2P is for professional use with a lot of useful functions for administration,
maintenance and troubleshooting.
18
Notes:
State on delivery: both DIP switches (RM, Stand by) are in the “ON" position
Both switches must be in the “ON” position to save the Spanning Tree
configuration
19
Notes:
DIP switch: RM (Ring Manager)
Function: When the HIPER-Ring function is switched on, you can switch the
RM (Redundancy Manager) function on and off.
State on delivery: position OFF (RM function not active)
DIP switch: Ring port
Function: Selecting the ports for the HIPER-Ring.
MS30: In the ON position, ports 1 and 2 in module 2 are for connecting the
HIPER-Ring.
MS20: In the ON position, port 1 from modules 1 and 2 are for connecting
the HIPER-Ring.
State on delivery: position OFF (ports 1 and 2 of module 1 are for
connecting the HIPER-Ring)
20
Notes:
DIP Switch: RM (Redundancy Manager)
Function: When the HIPER-Ring function is switched on, you can switch the RM
(Redundancy Manager) function on and off.
State on delivery: position OFF (RM function not active)
DIP Switch: Ring Port
Function: Selecting the ports for the HIPER-Ring. Changes of DIP positions take
effect after a restart.
In the ON position, ports 1 and 2 in module 2 are for connecting the HIPER-Ring.
State on delivery: position OFF (ports 1 and 2 of module 1 are for connecting the
HIPER-Ring)
DIP Switch: Stand-by
Function: With the redundant coupling of rings, you assign the redundancy function
to the Power MICE in the redundant line.
State on delivery: position OFF (normal function)
DIP Switch: HIPER-Ring
Function: The HIPER-Ring function can be enabled or disabled. If the HIPER-Ring
function is disabled, you can use the ring ports as normal ports. In position ON
RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree) is globally disabled.
State on delivery: position OFF
DIP Switch: Software Configuration / DIP Configuration
Function: Give the software configuration priority ahead of the DIP switch position.
In this case, the other switch positions are meaningless.
State on delivery: position OFF (software configuration has priority)
DIP Switch: Service
Function: Switch the device to service mode.
State on delivery: position OFF (normal mode)
