INSTALLING AND OPERATING MANUAL

STORE IT IN A CLEAN, DRY, WELL-VENTILATED PLACE, FREE PROM VIBRATION,
MOISTURE, AND RAPID OR WIDE VARIATIONS IN TEMPERATURE. ROTATE THE SHAFT
SEVERAL REVOLUTIONS BY HAND EVERY FORTNIGHT (TWO WEEKS) TO

FOR OIL LUBE BEARINGS FILL THE RESERVOIR WITH OIL FOR STORAGE. DRAIN OIL TO
‘THE PROPER LEVEL FOR START UP. ROTATE THE SHAFT PERIODICALLY, ALSO NOT TO.
EXCEED EVERY TWO WEEKS.
CONSIDERA UNIT IN STORAGE WHEN :
1, _ ITHAS BEEN DELIVERED TO THE JOB SITE AND IS AWAITING INSTALLATION.
2. ITHAS BEEN INSTALLED BUT OPERATION IS DELAYED PENDING COMPLETION OF
PLANT CONSTRUCTION.
3. THERE ARE LONG (30 DAYS OR MORE) PERIODS BETWEEN OPERATION CYCLES.
4. THE PLANT (OR DEPARTMENT) IS SHUT DOWN.
NOTE: STORAGE REQUIREMFNTS VARY DEPENDING ON THE LENGTH OF STORAGE,
THE CLIMATE ENVIRONMENT AND THE EQUIPMENT. FOR STORAGE PERIODS OF
THREE MONTHS OR LONGER, CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR SPECIFIC
INSTRUCTIONS. IMPROPER STORAGE COULD RESULT IN NON-WARRANTY
COVERED RESTORATION REQUIREMENTS OR NON-WARRANTY COVERED
PRODUCT FAILURES.SECTION 1
INTRODUCTION :
The pumps covered by these instructions, when
property installed and when given reasonable care
andmaintenance, willoperete satsfactorilyfora long
Period of time. To insure the proper instalation and
maintenance, these instructons should be read
carefully. Also, if your pump is equipped with a
mechanical seal, refer to Instructions SPMS.
DESCRIPTION
‘closed impeller does have a front shroudand front
radial wearing surface. It may also have a radia
wearing suface on the back shroud. See Figures 1
2, 83 for this construction,
Horzontal Frame Pumps
This type ofpumpis equipped wit ballbearings
‘and is designed to operate in a horizontal position
‘The drivers generally mounted with the pump on a
common base. The pump and driver are usually
connected with a flexible coupling. The constructon
of this pump a flexible coupling. The constuction of
this pump can be seen by referring to Figure 1, 2 &

GENERAL APPLICATION
These pumps ere basically designed for handing
clear fresh water having a tempereture not to exceed
80°C, unless otherwies expressly statedand agreed
to by Flowmore Pt. Ltd,
CHECKING FOR TRANSIT DAMAGE
Upon receipt ofthis pump, a visual check should
be civen to determine if any damage has been
incurred in transit or handling. The main things to
look for are:
4. Broken or cracked feet on the base.
2, Broken or cracked suction or discharge flanges,
3. Broken or cracked pedestal (See Part # 36 in
the illustrations)
Weny damage has been incurred, PROMPTLY
notify Flormore Pvt. Lid. represenrative AND the
transit company that dalivered the pump.
PRESERVATION
In the event thet this pump wil not be insialled
immediately, steps should be taken to protect the
Bump from moisture damage, dust, dr, and pests. It
is recommendod that the folowing steps be taken
41. Fillthe bearing housings completely with proper
sgreace. (Bee Becton 4 LUDRICATION typi)
2. Remove the glancs, packing end seal cage from
the stufing box ifthe pump is equipped in this
manner. If the pump is equipped with 2
‘mechanical seal, remove the pipe plugin the seal
housing and coat the seal with a heavy oi! or
‘grease. This may be done by using an ol can,
‘Squirting on tho sealing surface while rotating the
ump shaft
3. Cover the pump suction and discharge flanges
with cardboard weed nrmackingtans to prevent
foreign objects and pests from lodging in the
pump.
4. If the pump is to be stored where there is no
protective covering, iis advisable to cover the
ump with a tarpaulin or otner suitable means,

Insallation
PREPARATION
Before instaling the pump, it will be necessary
toclean the suction and discharge flanged surfaces,
and using a solvent, remove the protective coating
from the pump shat.
lf the pump has been in storage, and prepared
for storage in the manner outlined in Section 1, it will
bbe necessary to remove all of he grease from the
bearings. The bearings should then be flushed wth
4 auitable compound, ai reyrwased. The proper
procedure for parforming this operation is outlined in
Secton 4, LUBRICATION topic.
LOCATION
‘The pump shoul bo located ae near te the liquid
being handled as gracti:! so that a short, direct,
‘suction pipe may be used. The tetal suction lit should
Not exceed 15%, or the required NPSH stipulated,
when pumping rated capacity at sea level and the
tempsreture not exceedinny 09°F, The wutrecilon for
altitude is approximately 1" suction it for each 1000"
‘above sea level. Also, for ease of maintenance and
inspection during operation, t is advisabee to locate:
