Rizal’s grand tour in Europe with Viola

Hounded by powerful enemies, Rizal was forced to leave his country for a
second time in February 1888. He was then full-grown man of 27 years of age,
a practicing physician, and a recognized man-of-letters THE TRIP TO
HONGKONG February 3, 1888 -Rizal left Manila for Hong Kong on board the
Zafiro February 7, 1888. In Dresden their visit coincided with the regional
floral exposition which Rizal was interested in Botany. They met Dr. Jagor at the

Litomerice,Czechoslovakia) and Dr. Jagor heard them. The doctor advised them
to wire Blumentritt of their coming because the old professor might suffer a

They visited the tomb of Copernicus. As well as the museum of natural history
and the famous cave where San Juan Nepomuceno, the Catholic Saint, was
imprisoned. They went to Brunn after saying goodbye to Professor and
according to Viola, “nothing of importance happened” in this city.
