THE VIRTUAL MASS MATRIX OF A CLUSTER OF CYLINDERS IN LIQUID CONTAINED BY A RIGID OUTER CYLINDER by S. SUSS, M. PUSTEJOVSKY, M.P. PAIDOUSSIS M.E.RL. report No. 76-1 BDL Reawordh Lube.“ @ — Department of Mechanical Engineering Ovcgitt University Montreal, Québec, Canada duly 1976 RESUME. ABSTRACT This report describes two different methods for the calculation of the virtual masses of arrays of parallel cylinders in liquid contained by an outer cylinder. The first method uses classical hydrodynamic concepts, while the second uses fluid. finite elements. “ Illustrative examples are given to show how each method may be used and also.to compare and cross-check the two methods and to compare their computational. efficiency.
