1) Notes on Chapter 1 and 3-5 fabulous questions. Post to OWL
2) Reflection on your family music(s), musical self/selves. This may take the form of an
essay, a poem, a mixed media presentation, a picture/diagram or choreographed piece.

BOTH
Familiar-Exotic. Plan to share your examples in small groups. Please send the titles for
your pieces, musicians, or whatever short details you have to kveblen@uwo.ca so that I
can compile these for the class.

1) Send a proposal for your personal or shared project to kveblen@uwo.ca
Arrange to meet with me if you’d like some help with this
2) Read chapter 1 and listen to musical examples, no need to annotate.
3) Find and annotate one current and interesting article/book/source following your own
interests in cultural perspectives. Upload pdf of article and your annotation to OWL.
These will be shared with the class.
