TBLT is compatible with what we know about language learning. A task-language teaching activity with a
primary focus on meaning (info/opinion gap), that asks ss to select the language that they need/use
their own L as opposed to exercises where ss are given the L to simply manipulate. It emphasizes
meaning over form but it is also concerned form. Task are more intrinsically motivating than other
activities, as learners pick out the L that they can use from the task they are given. A combination can be
successful between task based teaching lesson and more traditional lessons. If you want to develop
communicative competence, somewhere there needs to be TBT.
