‘THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP Coopertown Elementary School 800 Coopertown Road Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 Ms. Elizabeth Mastrocola. Princival April 2019 Kim Bohrer Coopertown Elementary School 800 Coopertown Ra. Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 ‘To Whom It May Concern: had the pleasure of being Raina Haas’s cooperating teacher from January 2019 to April 2019. Prior to that, Raina completed her field study placement in my classroom, from October 2018 to December 2019. She student taught in my regular education second grade at Coopertown Elementary School. During this time, Raina was required to follow the district curriculum to implement our math, language arts, science, and social studies programs. She also completed various course assignments throughout her time at Coopertown. At the conclusion of her student teaching, she was responsible for teaching in its entirety for two weeks. Her responsibilities included teaching small and whole group lessons, introducing new concepts across the curriculum, collaborating on lesson plans, guiding students through projects and assignments, administering and grading assessments, amongst many other facets of being a teacher. She also worked closely with struggling students to help reteach and reinforce concepts taught. She took pride in all areas of teaching, and did so in a professional way. From the day Raina stepped into Coopertown, she very quickly became a valued member of our classroom community. She took time to get to know students on a personal and academic level. Always willing to help, Raina became accustomed to our routines and daily flow, and consistently took the initiative to assist when needed. As a learner, she listened to suggestions offered and tried implementing new strategies to enhance her teaching skills. During her time at Coopertown, Raina did an excellent job planning and preparing for lessons. She taught the curriculum and supplemented it with other engaging lessons. For example, we taught about scientists during Black History month and she brought in real-life examples. She had the students regrow sweet potatoes to see the value in George Washington Carver's work. During our science unit “Changes,” she had students create sugar crystals. The students were very enthusiastic to partake in these various leaming experiences. Raina is a hard-working, dedicated teacher, with a passion for working with children. T am confident that she will someday be a valuable asset to the education community. Please do not hesitate to contact me as a reference. I can be reached at kbohrer@haverfordsd.net or 610-283- 1899. It was a pleasure working with Raina Haas during her field and student teaching experiences. Sincerely, Kim Bohrer
