Re: Letter of Recommendation for Brent Cheatham

Dear Sir/Madame:
Although I have known Brent for only a short time, I have been impressed with him
both as a student and as a potential professional educator. His comments in my classes
have always been insightful and engaging. He loves to explore the breadth and depth of
a topic and equally enjoys conveying that information in an engaging manner. In short,
as a student, Brent is the type of student that I look forward to having in my classes. It is
not surprising at all to me that he is a past recipient of the Gouverneur Morris Award.
During my several visits with him during office hours, I can say with confidence that he
truly desires to make a difference in the lives of people and that he wants to contribute
to the teaching profession. Brent has a special affinity for those who are marginalized
and has a way of engaging such people. He has experience in this area as he has worked
with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports).
I have been a professional educator for over twenty years, who has observed a lot of
teachers and had many conversations and debates about pedagogical issues. In that
time, I have come to understand the qualities that are necessary not only to teach, but
also to be a leader in the educational field. There is no doubt in my mind that Brent will
be both an effective, engaging teacher, and a leader in the educational field. He has a
passion for teaching, is hardworking and will go the extra mile. Therefore, I recommend
Brent Cheatham for any position in the educational field.
