CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Students from different field of specialization

have been honing their skills and prepare them for their

future job as they will undergo the On-The Job Training.

The knowledge that they have gained in the four sides of

classroom will be applied through the help and guidance

of the persons who will serve as your superior. All the

learning being acquired from the College professors and

instructors have a great contribution in the workplace

where we apply the teachings that they had taught us.

The classroom is a great starting point for

learning but the practical application of that learning

is essential as the Ojt student apply what he/she has

learned.

In the respective place where we render our services a

lot of lessons and new ideas are learned. There are

circumstances we cannot understand some of the

transactions of the bank but the employees are willing to

teach us to develop our skills in solving some of the

problems we have encountered.

It is a great opportunity we have received when we

have the chance to render our services working to a place

where we can maximize our potentials and skills.

Brief History/Background of the Company/Company

Profile

The RURAL BANK OF CAUAYAN INC. was established on

April 7,1965. It is the pioneer bank in Cauayan, Isabela

founded by Dr. and Mrs. Ireneo C. Bucag Sr. and its

incorporator namely: Mr. Domingo San Pedro, Mrs. Aurea B.

Carpio, Mr. Antonio M. Perez, Mrs. Lourdes Cruz, and Mr.

Domingo Simangan.

The simplified and affordable credit window that it

offers immediately became a word of mouth among farmers

and businessmen in Cauayan , Isabela and its nearby

municipalities. Since then, it has not stopped counting

more and more satisfied and loyal customers.

Because of this, Rural Bank of Cauayan Inc. started

branching out. Six (6) branches were opened from 1990 to

2000, Eight (8) other branches were inaugurated from

2001-2010, and 3 more branches started operating from

2011 to 2013.

Pioneer Employees

As of now, Rural Bank of Cauayan Inc. has a total of 20

branches and 1 Extension Office operating in four

provinces in Region 2–Isabela, Cagayan, Quirino and Nueva

Vizcaya with resources of over a Billion pesos; and a

total of 217 employees.

The bank’s tremendous growth over the years was

fueled by the active & dynamic stewardship of its Members

of the Board namely: Dr. Eduardo R. Bucag, Chairman of

the Board, Mr. Edgardo R. Bucag, President, Mr. Ireneo R.

Bucag Jr., Board of Director, Mr. Ronaldo R. Bucag, Board

of Director, Mrs. Juana R. Bucag, Founder, Ms. Teresita

R. San Pedro, Board of Director, Mr. Danilo San Pedro,

Board of Director and independent Directors; Mr. Cezar G.

Guzman, Mr. Eduardo R. Condat

Social responsibilities have been a part of Rural

Bank of Cauayan’s distinctiveness. For 5 straight years

the bank have been conducting Job fair in partnership

with LGU Cauayan, DOLE & POEA as a simple way of helping

the jobseekers find their employment. Last January 2015,

Rural Bank of Cauayan sponsored a 3-day medical, dental,

surgical and ophthalmology mission in cooperation with

Wichita Falls Country Medical Alliance of North Texas and

LGU Cauayan. Local and Fil-Am Doctors from USA

collaborated to provide free medical aid to those who are

less fortunate in life in Isabela.

Truly, Rural Bank of Cauayan Inc. has evolved as one of

the biggest rural bank in the region and has been

receiving recognitions from prestigious institutions.

Over the years, it has continued its legacy in good

governance and excellent customer service.

CHAPTER III

Assessment of Practicum Program


When I started my on the Job training at Rural Bank
of Cauayan-Tumauini Branch. I was assigned at the front
liners desk assisting all the clients. I have found out
that the clients have different personalities. Being the
OJT I learned how to extend my patience to our clients
even they are stubbornly asking their business
transaction this serve as my training grounds. All of the
employees in this branch were regular employee that may
help me in my learning experience. My first day wasn’t
that good for me it’s because I’m not familiar with the
employee and in the kind of work they may give to me.
Filling of important files and daily reports was very
easy task, but in my first day’s it’s been very hard for
me to file bundles of reports. Before filing documents, I
have to sort the different kinds of reports. My training
supervisor taught me how to print the daily reports, file
deposit slips properly, and the proper way of answering
the telephone. At first, my supervisor gives me the
instruction for the work they were given, but when I
already get familiar to these she let me do it with
myself. I participated in the normal operation of the
office by doing the tasks that is assigned to me.
During my training I learned to interact and get
socialized with other people. This is one of the
memorable experiences in the bank where I rendered my
services as OJT. I know that people have different
perosanlity’, however making friends with my co-trainee
and in the staffs and officers doesn’t make difficult.
They don’t treat me like others. And as a trainee, I
don’t feel tight working with them, later I learned to

work with patience, working at the bank was very
stressful because of the clients you have to welcome and
interact with.
I also learned from my co-trainee experience and
mistakes, as well as my mistake and apply it whenever I
needed. Sometimes I interact with clients who are not
that good, of course I am not perfect and I can make
mistakes. Oftentimes, I answer the phone and we have to
be nice to every person we’re talking with. When there
are clients asking for their bank statements and reports,
I let the officers to talk to them because every bank
records are very much private. In every kind of work I
must be nice to all people that I may encountered to
prevent problem. Challenges are always there, it’s a
trial of one’s ability or resources in demanding
In my 3 months training at Rural Bank of Cauayan I
can say that I had contributed to them, I help them
minimize their work and finished it for a short period of
time. The training inside in the company is learning
experienced each day. I learned to appreciate the lessons
studied in school and realize the important of it. I
understand that was thought in school can be a tool that
can be used in future career. As a trainee I become a
careful person. I also learned to follow instruction as
what the superior said and accept the opinion they’re
suggested and follow the rules and regulation of the
company. On the job training is not just a
subject/requirement to be pass/complete but it is an
opportunity to show what skills, talents, knowledge,
techniques and most specially the ability as a person and
an individual who will enter the world of business at the
right time. This is also an application of what we had
learned. It’s serve as a stepping stone to a real life as

an employee. Learning is a lifetime commitment that
continues even though I have a job. Training inspired me
to enhance my ability and knowledge in my chosen field.
And of course we have to treasure every person we become
socialize even for a very short period of time. Now I am
more interested and excited to enter the world of
business. It was a enormous and wonderful experience.

Recommendation:
1. The program coordinator should expose us to
different banks in local area as observer prior to
our deployment/OJT to gain knowledge so that the OJT
student will not find it hard.

To students who will take their practicum be obedient to


your superior as you go through to your task given. It
could be far better to ask the employees or the staff of
a certain organization where you have your OJT if there
are things you do not know to avoid mistakes.
Determination and perseverance are needed in OJT to do
all the works. In entertaining the clients always be
courteous and serve them with the heart.
The challenges of everyday task will give you an

opportunity to be a good employee in your chosen career.

Integrity and honesty is a virtue that the ojt student

must possess because if you have these values the head of

any offices or any institutions could accommodate you in

your workplace through the performance you shave shown.

CHAPTER IV

Case Study

Point of View

Rural Bank of Cauayan is Located at Brgy, 1,

Tumauini, Isabela which caters the farmers, Business men,

Teachers and all people who want to deposit. The bank has

become a partner in developing and improving the lives of

those people who are willingly save their money.

Case Overview

The Rural Bank of Cauayan-Tuamauini Branch is one the

Rural Banks in region 2. All employees have their own

duties and responsibilities assigned to achieve its

objectives of the Bank. The bank is open from Monday to

Friday at regular time from 8: O’clock in the morning to

3: Oclock in the afternoon.

Case Problem

Tumauini is a promising town where a lot of investors

have already put their businesses. One of these is the

increasing number of the Commercial Banks. The problem

being encountered of the Rural Bank was some of the

depositors and lenders preferred to go to commercial

banks. Hence the number of transactions continuously

decreasing.

Alternative Course of Action

The remedy to the problem in preventing clients

to move from Rural Bank to other commercial banks is to

make a way or strategies that to win the heart of their

client. Maybe one of the actions they could do is to

lower their interests rate to the clients who want to

barrow money and some other products of the bank must

have low interest.

Advantage

Through the use of different strategies the Rural

Bank of Cauayan will encourage more depositors and

eventually the Bank will grow.

Disadvantage

Every employee is preoccupied doing their job had

given to them and so advertising their products to the

prospect clients are rarely done.

Evaluation of Alternatives

Based on my observations, here is the evaluation of

alternatives:

Strategies such as distributing flyers and updating the

website of the bank this could be a great help to

increase the number of depositors to the bank. Actual

campaign of the Bank employees to the target clients must

be done regularly. To maintain the regular client and

encourage new depositors and people who want to barrow

from the bank.

Conclusion

Based from what I’ve observed, the following

conclusions are drawn:

1.) The Rural bank of Cauayan-Tuamauini Branch has

Insufficient employees.

2.) Lack of Information dissemination about their

products.

Recommendation

Based on the conclusions of this study,the following

recommendations are drawn:

1.) Hire employees to increase the bank’s production and

to inform the clients and possible depositors on what the

bank have been offering to increase its profit.

2.) Seminars must be given to the bank employees on how

to encourage their customers and to become more

productivity in their respective task assign to them.

Implementation Plan

The collaborative effort of all employees and the board

of directors is the key to solve the problem which has

been encountered by the Rural Bank of Cauayan. Improving

the quality of life of every client is the priority of

the bank. To attain the mission and objectives of the

organization.
