Level Meaning

1 Easy

2 Moderate

3 Difficult

4 Very Difficult

Easy

Questions are straightforward, and enable candidates to derive answers quickly. Consequently, the cut-
offs are likely to be high. High scores will be common, and there will be very little difference of scores
between the top ranks. An example of such a paper is CLAT 2017.

Moderate

Questions are straightforward, and enable candidates to derive answers fairly quickly. Some questions
might be tricky, and require a keen eye for detail. However, the overall paper is easy enough to attempt it
in the given time. Consequently, the cut-offs are likely to be somewhat high. High scores will not be
uncommon. A good example of such a paper is CLAT 2009.

Difficult

Questions are unfamiliar and difficult to attempt, and take more than average time to arrive at the
answer. The questions may be lengthy. Consequently, finishing the paper in the given time is possible
only for the most prepared. Scores are likely to be on the lower end, and cut-offs will be lower than usual.
A good example of such a paper is CLAT 2013.

Very Difficult

Questions knock you off your feet. The sheer shock of seeing such strange questions might paralyze you
from attempting the whole paper well. Topics tested might be unfamiliar, and even unprecedented for
the exam. Questions require a lot of time to understand and attempt. Scores are likely to be very low, and
cut-offs will follow this pattern. A good example of such a paper is CLAT 2015.
