 ABSTRACT

The canal syphon usually forms a vital link in the water conductor system
,across rivers with alluvial and scourable beds ,urban highways and drainage
systems . The ultimate aim is to evolve the most economical design with
available materials and technical knowhow matching the side conditions .

In canal syphon due to poor foundation condition and to over come

enviromental conditions , an efficient structural form is to be evolved with
improve the method of design which could stand the test of hydraulic
efficiency also.

This paper discusses the salient features of typical case, i.e.,canal syphon
across sarda river .subjects cover include hydraulic design ,structural design ,
foundations , protection works and others.
