Brief Summary:

Health Services submitted the Education for Homeless Children and Youth grant

years with funding being contingent upon availability of funds and may be amended if
Legislature takes action to reduce or defer funds.

Presently we have over 569 students qualified as Homeless in our district. Last year we
served over 900 students.

These funds will be used to provide students identified as homeless or unaccompanied

youth with school supplies, assistance with clothing, hygiene supplies, obtaining
documentation for school i.e. birth certificates, other items necessary to keep student
engaged in the learning environment, tutoring, case management, school snacks when
needed, assistance with keeping students at their school of origin and transportation ie.
Bus passes when appropriate.

Within the grant there is funding for two positions, an Outreach Assistant and a
Homeless aide.

Is this a one year grant?
