Project 3 Revision Plan
For our project, we have identified an issue on Michigan State University’s campus

regarding the transportation system and how it is affecting students largely. We talked about the

CATA buses being overcrowded and the implications that it is having on student success here at

MSU. We talked to CATA executive Lolo Robinson to get insight into what is being done on

CATA’s end to combat this issue. She was able to provide us with many useful answers but also

told us that they were not currently working on changing the bus routes for next year, so we

decided to focus on that for the final draft of our paper. CATA was already taking steps in the

directions that we proposed.

In the working draft, we did not have many sources yet, so that is something that is going

to need to be addressed while working on the final draft. For the working draft, however, we

were very successful in getting out points across. We accurately pinpointed a problem that was

being felt around campus and we made several good possible solutions for the issue that we saw.

We also contacted the right people and got the necessary information to create a detailed plan of

action for what we were planning on accomplishing. In all, we did very well in making a

detailed, accurate outline for the issue that we want to address in our final paper.

The process of writing the draft was very easy, our group dynamic works very well and

we can easily collaborate with each other. The only issue we ran into when making the draft was

the response time of those that we chose to contact, as their schedules were very tight, as were

ours.
To succeed in the final paper, we must get our sources together in a way that makes sense

and can easily persuade CATA to change their bus routes to more effectively serve the student

body at MSU. This is a doable solution because the foundation is already there, we are simply

proposing that CATA make their bus routes into smaller, more efficient chunks that will be

mutually beneficial. We will also include our interview that we conducted on Lolo

Robinson. She gave us plenty of valuable information to include in our final paper. With this

information, we are able to propose a solution to alter or add new bus routes. Some of the

information included the number of riders per route, each day and the overall satisfaction of the

bus routes. Creating new bus routes will not be easy and we must figure out all of the moving

parts that go into the route design. This will involve all of our group's knowledge and busing

riding experience to design/ alter the routes. We are going to take into account where the

majority of students reside and their desired destinations. We will also take into account what

venue classrooms will host the greatest number of students. The larger lecture classes will have

more students and those students will need transportation. Our goal is to design the routes based

on the academic standpoint as well as desired.
