Research Proposal

The topic I chose was having uniforms in school. What made me want to learn this is

why there are dress codes you have to follow in some schools. When I was in 6th-8th grade I had

to wear uniform. Wearing the same two colors everyday got old and boring to me. Since then,

that made me want to know more on why uniforms are in school. Some schools make you wear

uniforms throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Most people at my school didn’t

really like the idea of wearing uniforms. I’m curious on what’s behind the reason for why

uniforms are a thing in schools.

How I feel about the this topic is very curious and ready to get into it. I want to know

more about why uniforms are a thing and who came up with this idea, specifically in schools.

What I think about this topic before doing the research is that its a very good topic and very

interesting. I feel I can expand my knowledge on this topic that could lead me into other

interesting things. What I believe about this topic is that there is a lot of reasoning about the

decisions being made to make uniforms in schools possible. Not having reasons for such strong

decision can be very strange. What I already know about uniforms in school is that it has been

around for awhile. I know that uniforms aren’t just used for schools. They could be used for jobs,

plays, etc. I know that there are plenty of different uniforms made, and not just one.

What I am hoping to learn is the reason behind the whole uniform scenario. I want to

know the real truth behind it. I think I will start to find out the answers from using reliable

sources. Maybe like when they were first started, look at documentaries of what it was like at

first. A research question I have for this topic is what ways does wearing uniforms in school

affect the environment by? Another research topic I have for this topic is in what ways are

uniform policies different now than they were before? This can help me compare and contrast

the old ways and new ways of the policies. Using educational sources can help me with these.
