LESSON 1. How to create a Layer in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018


Materials: Original Photo from Facebook, USB or Creative Commons.

1. Open Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 by opening Applications folder and


selecting Blue “PS” (second to top row in the middle) folder.

2. Once PS has loaded, create a new document (File>New) or ⌘ N.

2. Select a document size. I am using 8.5x11in @300 ppi (pixels per inch)
RGB color, 8 bit, White Background Contents

3. Title the document “Digital”


4. Select Blue “Create” button
5. Press ⌘ “+” or “-“ to zoom in or out based on how much detail you need to
see.
6. From the top menu options, select (Layer>New>Layer)

7 Make sure new layer is highlighted on the Layers menu on the right side of
your Photoshop table.
8. Go to your downloads folder. Drag and drop your image file on top of your
white background

10. You can resize by selecting any corner edge while holding shift button
(holding shift will ensure your image does not distort)
11. Press (Enter/Return button) to dis-select image.
12. Make sure your mouse cursor is over your image press and drag image to
center image to your liking.
13. Now you have successfully created a layer in photoshop.
14. If you have multiple layers, you can move a selected layer up and down to
change the order that your layer is stacked in the pile of layers.

15. You can adjust the appearance of selected layer by adjusting layer using,
the opacity slider located at the top of the layers panel. You can move the
adjustment from 0% (you won’t be able to see layer) to 100% (everything
under the layer will be completely obscured)

16. If you click the Eye Ball- the layer will disappear.
