AUSTIN, TEXAS – Less than three years after groups like #CocksNotGlocks, Students Against Campus Carry, and Gun-Free
UT brandished sex toys and filed lawsuits in protest of the University of Texas at Austin’s implementation of Texas’
campus carry law, none of these organizations attended a public hearing on a bill to repeal the controversial law.
Although 115 people registered positions on Texas House Bill 1236 (30 in support of repealing campus carry and 85
opposed to repeal), at the April 3 meeting of the Texas House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety, the
three organizations that led UT-Austin’s anti-campus-carry protests were not among the groups represented.
Quinn Cox, Southwest regional director for Students for Concealed Carry and a student at the University of Texas at
Austin, commented, “It’s almost as if—after thirty-two months without a resulting injury, assault, or suicide attempt—
campus carry is no longer a major concern on the UT-Austin campus.”

ABOUT STUDENTS FOR CONCEALED CARRY — Students for Concealed Carry (SCC) is a national, non-partisan, grassroots
organization comprising college students, faculty, staff, and concerned citizens who believe that holders of state-issued
concealed handgun licenses should be allowed the same measure of personal protection on college campuses that
current laws afford them virtually everywhere else. SCC is not affiliated with the NRA or any other organization. For
