When you work at Compass Group, regardless
of your title or what you do here, each and

success of our company. Each member of our
dynamically growing workforce should feel
connected to something much bigger than
their individual efforts.

Working together, we can do

great things.
Which is why we want you to understand
the importance of building stronger team
engagement. Associates who feel their voices
are heard and acted upon are more productive,
have fewer accidents, take fewer sick days,
and provide higher levels of customer service.

Roadmap for successfully connecting your
team to the business. We've simplified the
process into four easy steps.
1
PREPARE.
Get ready to get engaged.

Put simply, engagement is about creating a connection

between your team members and our business, which in
turn motivates people to perform at their highest level.
When we create a positive environment for our associates
it instills feelings of pride and goodwill that help us take
better care of our customers and build closer bonds with
our co-workers and managers.

Satisfied customers begin with engaged employees.
2
COMMUNICATE.
Give people a voice.

Two-way communication is a vital part of employee

engagement. It begins with you taking the time to
talk to your team members and listen to the
responses, and continues with taking action to
transform that dialogue into change. This will show
your team how their feedback has a real impact on
our business and its performance.

action plan.
3 Listen to the ideas and concerns of your

5 Brainstorm possible solutions. • Review and think through all of the
ideas and begin to prioritize the list.
6 Don't allow one associate to dominate the
discussion.
What your employees have to say really matters.
3
TAKE ACTION.
Do it now!

The value of associate feedback is in the follow-up that

translates perception into meaningful action. Make
action planning a priority – add this to the agenda at
your regular team meetings to give associates a voice at
every opportunity.

DIRECTIONS

1 Take action in a timely manner.

2 Be specific – not just with your goal, but your intentions as well.
3 Create measurable milestones.
4 Put a timeline on everything.
5 Change the date if you must but do not give up on the goal.
6 Leverage team meetings to make sure you give associates a voice
at every opportunity.
Change begins by bringing good ideas to life.
4
FOLLOW UP.
Become an engagement champion!

One of the things that make people lose confidence in

the survey process is when actions are agreed upon but
then never followed up. Keep your team focused on what
matters by making sure you regularly update them on the
plan and gauge feelings about the team’s progress toward
meeting its goals. Associates also need regular feedback
about their individual progress. Encourage the team to
discuss issues and the goals for overcoming them.

DIRECTIONS

1 Agree on actions/changes you and the team are going to make.

2 Make sure actions are clear and everyone is involved.
3 Agree how to measure and determine what success looks like.
4 Monitor and communicate progress regularly – if positive changes are not
taking place, gather the team together and agree on an alternate approach.
Every conversation should open the door to another one.
